Marine Lodge New River

Great hotel for getting away from base, while remaining on base. The building appears to be a former barracks, but the rooms are large and cozy. The good: The staff are cordial and very helpful. There is ample parking around the building. There is a tiny gym inside the building that includes 1 newer treadmill, 1 rower, 1 assault bike, 1 elliptical, and dumbells ranging from 5 to 50 lbs. The location is right by the water and away from most of the base population. Even the sound of incoming V22s is relaxing (to me). The not so good: The toilets are tiny, and the few water fountains rarely dispense cold water. Free breakfast is included, but it is Continental and not the hot breakfast advertised on the Lodges' website.

Great room and price. If you have base access its worth the stay just unwind. Fishing is just feet away.

Housekeeping and front desk staff were awesome and super kind. Hotel only had one elevator working and the air con was locked and would often fail to kick on to heat a room, thankfully it was spring and none of the aforementioned were personal deal breakers. The river view more than made up for the inconveniences. Would utilize again if ever in the area and in need of a place to stay.

Fantastic service and hosts, when I forgot my room key in the room, they were prompt and accommodating to replace. Room cleanliness was at the highest standard, also the morning food bags with the quotes are a nice touch to have the VOQ stand out on its own as a respectable establishment.
