Marina Motel

I've been going to this motel for years, and have always loved the homey atmosphere, furniture, and outside plants growing profusely around the property. The last two times I've stayed it's been difficult to find the joy of previous years. The property now reminds me of staying at a friends place that now needs lots of overdue maintenance and care. I am allergic to dogs ( although I like them!) and now that the motel is catering to dog owners it's difficult to know what room I might be getting. If you travel with a dog you may love this motel but others may have allergies or feel grossed out that dogs may have been on the bedspread, chairs or carpeting. I don't feel comfortable walking around the room barefoot which was previously not an issue. This was my first stay in the winter months

I booked our stay at the Marina Motel based on the reasonably close proximity to Fisherman’s Wharf and downtown San Francisco. Advertised as being owned and managed by the same family since 1939 we thought this could be rather interesting. The facade of the motel is rather funky with very colourful murals of flowers and had an Italian village feel about the place with very colourful window/flower boxes on all apartments. We were greeted by a very very friendly lady at check in who could not have been more helpful. We were allocated room 49 which the check in lady warned could be a little noisy with road noise from the busy Lombard Street but you got used to it not to be an issue. Positive: The location of the motel is great. Negative: The shower was moldy, it was very small for a family of four and the door lock was broken.

Truly a gem. What a comfort. We were booted out of our place for 22 nights due to a repair. Of all the places we stayed this was the most cozy. Kind staff helped me with any concerns. Adorable, affordable, convenient, and clean. 🌹

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Outstanding Stay! We had the BEST experience at this motel, truly above and beyond anything we expected. Martin, the manager, was incredible. We arrived with a full U-Haul and a car attached to the back — and anyone who has traveled like that knows how impossible parking can be. Martin literally circled the entire property to find us a parking spot, then personally made sure we were set and safe for the night. He even put out cones to block the road so we could park easily, and helped us carry our belongings so we could stay with our daughter and our dogs. Yes — this motel is dog friendly and they don’t just say it, they mean it. Our dogs even got treats for the road! The two ladies at the front desk were so kind, welcoming, and helpful.
