Marenas Beach Resort

Construction is loud next door , it your sensitive to those type of working noises this would not be the place for you. We originally booked our room through a broker on Airbnb, who is affiliated with the hotel. When we arrived, they did not have a room available and tried to compensate after 3 hours by offering breakfast and a one bedroom which was not sufficient for our family. We were in the lobby for three hours and not treated very well by the female that kept apologizing to management on the phone for bothering them rather than apologizing to us for our inconvenience of not having a room and missing dinner plans. Beautiful location, fabulous balcony, and great amenities are expected for the price. But it is the people that make Marenas so special. Greeted with a genuine smile of recognition by Heidy in the morning and Cristian in the evening set the tone. The front desk and concierge were so helpful in making everything I needed possible. Service at the pool and beach made relaxing easy. You can find towers up and down the ocean, but this level of customer service is truly above and beyond.

Positive: The views Negative: The rooms are way two small for two people with suitcases. There was no space to open two suitcases. We had to use the bathroom to keep one the bags open in there.

The hotel was great but the location was not so great. First, there is construction next door. I get that they can't fully control this. Second, it is right off the main highway. It is not convenient for walking with small children. I don't understand how bikes and motorized scooters share a tiny sidewalk with pedestrians. Not safe. Third, the only way to get the stroller down to walk on the sidewalk is by going through the garage. The hotel was very kid friendly but the area was not so much.

After checking in, and seeing the state of the rooms (bayfront bedroom suite, room 2007A), we realized what a mistake we made. The hotel is very old and dated. Basic cleanliness and functionality are not existent at the property. 1. Both phones do not work in the room. When i tried to call the front desk for assistance no one could hear me. 2. The shower in the main bedroom was not cleaned and had hair from the previous occupant. 3. The sofa bed was not equipped with bedding and we had to request it multiple times, having to go all the way back to the lobby, since neither of the phones were functional. Overall - while the hotel is in a prime location, its extremely lacking. These issues were communicated with management via email, and not addressed.
