Lyles Motel

My best friend and I stopped at this motel while road-tripping through the States from Canada. When we walked in to book a room, the woman at the front desk immediately began pushing a more expensive room on us. She also spoke very limited English, which made communication difficult. When we finally settled on a room and began the payment process, my friend handed over her credit card. The woman inserted the card into the machine and then left it there for several minutes while doing something else. Suddenly, she told us the card was declined — which made no sense, since my friend hadn’t even entered her PIN. She didn’t swipe it either; she just used the chip and then walked away. I had to stay a week here. The only thing decent was the bed, TV and very nice male housekeeper! When you check in you are told that you can have NO guests, only 3 pieces of luggage. The room was depressing feeling. It had a lime green ceiling, purplish pink wall, orange doors with brown trim. The ceiling above the bed had a metal thing with a loop I swore it was for me to hang a noose from. The paint was peeling off the walls and doors. The bathroom was so small you had to walk in squeeze sideways between the sink and stand up shower to be able to shut the door. The hot water in the bathroom sink was turned off because it constantly ran. At the time of check out they inspected the room before giving back the $50 deposit. i have a service animal and they told me to show them documentation which in washington state under the ADA laws for service animals states n State, a motel cannot ask for identification from someone with a service dog. They are also prohibited from asking about the person's disability or requiring documentation proving the dog is a service animal.

The beds are a bit old and creaky but I woke up without any back pain, which is more than I can say for fancier hotels. The couple who work the motel are very nice. Just note, apparently the deposit is cash only. I happened to have the amount needed on hand, but if I didn't I wouldn't have been able to stay. Despite that, can't beat the price. This is THE cheapest motel I've stayed at.

Couldn't use the toilet because it wouldn't drain. Water was only cold. Horrible service. All we did was sleep in the room one night, and the woman at the counter complained that the room smelled because the bed was slept in?
