La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Tuscaloosa University

When we arrived late Friday night (3/6) around 9:30 pm. The Hotel appeared to be very nice. Check in was easy. We were assigned a room on the 1st floor. When we entered the room we immediately noticed a strong mildew smell. We attempted to turn the air conditioner on to circulate the air and it did not work. My husband went to the front desk and informed them that the air was not working and it smelled like mildew in the room. The front desk associate came to the room walked in the room, acknowledged the smell then went to the air unit unplugged it and plugged it back into “reset” it. It did come on for a few minutes but we had to “reset” the unit 8 times throughout the night. I informed the front desk at check out of the issues and they told me “ok” we will look it into it. I had not stayed at a La Quinta for years and remember them as being run down, but this was a lovely hotel! Everything was very clean and beds and pillows comfortable. The food was amazing with pretty much everything you could want. There were waffles, grits, oatmeal, scrambled eggs that were actually good, sausage, links, fried potato, biscuits and gravy, fruit, juices, fruit, cups, yogurt, and of coffee. The staff was so friendly at both check in and check out. I brought my small dog and they had an area for him outside to use and it was just a $25 fee. Very nice decor. I would definitely stay there again.

Awesome stopping point! Every trip through the area, we have stayed here and, every time, we have had a wonderful experience! Staff is welcoming on arrival, breakfast area is continually well stocked and clean, rooms are in great condition and well maintained. Bathroom is spotless! Truly, have never had such a consistent, positive experience anywhere else.||There is plenty of parking, even for campers, box moving trucks, items in tow. There is plenty of grass for walking your dog.||Hotel has always been quiet, even when busy. There is the smallest amount of road noise from nearby I-20 but has never affected my sleep.||Common areas are clean and in great shape. Lobby has an area with snacks for purchase. One of the best motels we've ever stayed in! Staff went over and beyond what was expected to make our stay comfortable as possible. Highly recommend La Quinta for your stay in Tuscaloosa. We definitely would stay here next time we're in town. Also one of the best practices I've had at a hotel. 💯👍
