La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Chicago Gurnee

-great location. |-many places to eat ! Great sports bar across from the highway . Olive Garden across the way . Country food across the way . |-pool but too many kids for me to go in . Ha |- not a 5 star hotel but very clean and great for passing through . |- you will see lots of navy personnel. |- rooms were great and have no complains . |- no noise at all . |-service was great |(I called at 7 am to see if I can check in at 9 am for early check in . They had no issue and it was a 40$ charge . Upon arrival they did not want to charge me . ) |I will be back again when my family comes so we can go to great wolf lodge .

Positive: Nicest La Quinta I've ever seen. Beautiful, new, clean, quiet rooms. Comfy bed and linens. Negative: Outside sign has a lot of burned out lights, making the hotel appear rundown, which it is not

I booked this La Quinta because the reviews were good, so I truly expected a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience. As soon as we walked into the building there was a strange odor. When we got to our room, the deodorizer smell was very strong — almost overwhelming. We opened the window to try to air it out, but it still made it hard to sleep and left us feeling congested. We also tried the pool, but something seemed off with the chemicals. Within about 10 minutes our eyes were burning and several kids were coughing. My daughter started coughing in the pool area, and later that night she developed congestion. She ended up dealing with a lingering cough and congestion for about a week after we got home. Just a heads up — pool towels aren’t kept in the pool area, the

This is a very nice hotel and a good value. Our room was clean and had the expected amenities...coffee pot, microwave and fridge. I gave 4 stars for service only because of the towel situation at the pool. There are no towels in the pool area and we discovered that you have to get towels at the front desk after we had jumped into the pool. No biggie....I get that it's a waterpark town and that the hotel towels probably disappear. The pool area otherwise, was clean and fun. Nice pool and hot tub. The free breakfast was added value, and was perfect for us. The room was equal or better than the rooms at GWL and the service was way better. (And $400+ cheaper...) We were told to carry our used towels down to the front desk where they count and swap out for fresh towels. We had to go to the laundry room to get linen for the sofa sleeper. The attendant came in to the pool to make sure that we, and apparently only we, were supervising our grandchild (we're a middle aged black couple-the only AA in the pool) in a pool and jacuzzi filled with white and brown guests. The breakfast is mediocre but you can make your own fresh waffles or pancakes. Breakfast staff did not appear friendly. The other staff members greet with smiles. Other than that, it's super close to six flags and has plentiful parking. The jacuzzi was nice and very warm.
