Hotel Zoe Fisherman’s Wharf

Mixed feelings on this place. Poor management causes the poor review on what could’ve been a great hotel experience. There was 3 fire alarms in the same night. Despite it smelling very smoky in the hallway and the hotel, we got conflicting responses from the staff with some saying to return to our room as we were evacuating. It wasn’t until other guests voiced concern that the fire department was called to give an all clear. Of course it’s not the hotels fault for the fire alarm, but their response to it really baffled me. There was no follow up communication. When checking out, I asked about a rate adjustment for this issue, and to the their credit, they did offer $40 back. Severe Safety Hazard and Unacceptable Staff Negligence I had a terrifying experience at this hotel. Around 4 AM, the smoke alarm went off, and the entire floor was filled with smoke. Despite the visible danger, the staff took an unacceptably long time to assist guests with evacuation. Even more shocking was the staff's response after we were evacuated. While the fire department had NOT yet arrived and the cause of the smoke was unknown, the staff told us, "If you want to go back to your room, just go back." This is a blatant disregard for guest safety. When we finally returned to the room, it still smelled strongly of smoke. I had an amazing two night stay at Hotel Zoe for Thanksgiving. Starting from the time I walked towards the entrance, the front doormen/valet Ben greeted me and was very kind. Upon walking in I was greeted by Jose at the front desk who was helpful, personable, and he provided all the pertinent information I need for my stay about the room, breakfast, lounge area, discounts for guests at the nearby restaurants, early check-in, late check-out, etc. ||The lobby that is directly connected to the lounge area was very cozy, great area to relax during a stay here. The room was very simple but clean. It's nice that there is a refrigerator to keep my drinks cool. I thought my bed was a little firm for my taste but I still had an excellent rest, it was nice and quiet which matters more.||The location

They say this is a 4-star hotel… but I don’t really think so. This hotel is quite... unremarkable... I almost don't even remember staying here. There was nothing wrong with the room or hotel per se, but there was nothing amazing about it either, it's just somewhere to sleep. But, the hotel's location is superb. It's in Fisherman's Wharf and very close to the piers (maybe a 5 minute walk). And the area feels safe, there is no "fenty-leaning" in sight which we were quite worried about. And there's a plethora of restaurants and convenience stores around the hotel. The hotel does offer umbrellas to its guests, which is nice, but they have very limited availability, and SF is quite rainy, so I suggest planning accordingly. Hotel was nicer than I expected. Did not get the bed size I booked bit they did put us into a suite instead. The resort fee is a rip off but what can you do?
