Fantastic stay! The hotel is conveniently located across Japan Town. Very clean and spacious rooms. Also the complimentary coffee in the morning is great. The only downside is the noise from adjacent rooms.
I call it business, but it really was a stay to get healthcare at UCSF at their Mt. Zion Campus, which is a few blocks away. We come in from Brentwood as the drive can be 2-2.5 hours and so staying overnight makes it very easy. My wife and I both lived in the City so we know what is good and what is bad these days. There really are only two hotels near to the UCSF campus and both are in Japantown. We had been staying at the Kimpton Enso, but wanted to try this place. I had styed there many times when it was the old Miyako, and loved it in its day. . Well, it was as if they threw some paint on the old hotel, kicked up the bar area, and decided to raise prices by slapping the Hyatt name on it. So here is my advice: stay at the Enso. Here is why: For starters the room, which was at the high
I booked the two double bed room on the 16th floor (top floor) for a weekend getaway with a friend visiting from LA. The room faced Geary and Twin Peaks and we loved it. The beds were clean and comfy, the shower was large and luxurious, the robes were a nice touch and we loved the decor in the room, the hallways and the lobby. Very chic! The next morning we did a gym session on the Garden level and it was honestly the largest hotel gym I have ever seen. Tons of machines, free weights, punching bag, Pelotons, rowing machine, mirrored mining barre studio and more. Lots of fresh towels and a tasty water dispenser. We also checked out the breakfast buffet and it had an excellent variety of hot foods, fresh fruits, pastries, traditional Japanese hot cereal, juices, espresso and more. Parking
The hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays! We really enjoyed our experience here. Our bed was very comfortable, and the room had a beautiful view of the city, Golden Gate Bridge, and Mt.Tam in the distance. We enjoyed cocktails at the hotel bar and they were delicious. The neighborhood felt safe, and it was fun to walk up Fillmore to all the shops and restaurants. We appreciated getting a hotel discount at the Kabuki Springs. Both my husband and I enjoyed massages there and the baths! Overall, a wonderful time!
This is not a four star hotel. The quality of the building feels like a retrofitted motel. I booked this solely because of its Hyatt association and was sorely disappointed and regretful. I wish I’d gone with a different hotel even though I’m Hyatt loyal and the other Hyatt hotels were booked. The rooms feel cheap and lack quality in finishings, furnishings, and sound proofing. The walls crack and creak all night. The windows are paper thin and the noise from the street seeps in. Even a car driving by sounded loud from the 14th floor. The bathroom feels like a hospital and the bedding is stiff. The breakfast is not worth $33. Breakfast staff is even worse. It feels like a cheap airport lounge spread — I did not realize the price until the waiter dropped the bill on my table. I had a cup
