Homewood Suites by Hilton West Des Moines/SW Mall Area

Service was great. The gentleman & his trainee welcomed us as soon as we came in the door. The trainee made an immediate connection based on my hat . The gentleman was great at the training. The bed was pretty firm, but overall pretty comfortable. The room was very nice & clean. I would definitely stay at this location again when passing through. #BOOMER

This was a very disappointing lodging experience. First, I discovered that my toilet would not flush but the sound of water could be heard continuously. This was at about 8 p.m. on my last night. I called the front desk, and that person said she would call her supervisor to assist in resolving this. I later received a call back from the front desk. The lady advised their maintenance person was unreachable and the hotel was full so there was nothing they could do about the plumbing issue. This did not make for a very quiet or restful night of sleep. Additionally, the manager's reception was pathetic. It was supposed to run from 5:30 pm to 7 pm, but did not begin until after 6 pm. Clean, updated rooms. No complaints. Some of the bad reviews surprise me. It’s a Hilton, people, not the Four Seasons. It’s a nice, clean, upscale hotel, not an ultra-luxury resort. I have stayed at many Homewood suites, and this one is very nice. The building is being renovated, but my room was new and in great condition.

Positive: The location Negative: The hallway carpet has white stains (at least on 2nd floor where we stayed). The closet door in our room 220 has something running down it or is damaged and looks like it has something on it. Hot tub was broken and nobody told me before I checked in.

This hotel is so lovely, the rooms are spacious and clean- felt like home after being on the road for 2 weeks. Tanisha at the front desk was so friendly and kind, I really appreciated her service and willingness to help guests out! Great hotel all around!
