Holiday Inn Express West Sacramento - Capitol Area by IHG

I want to specifically recognize Manav at the front desk for outstanding customer service. When I arrived, I realized the original room I was assigned wasn’t a great fit for me, and Manav handled the situation with patience, empathy, and zero attitude. He took the time to listen to my concerns and proactively worked to find a better option, ultimately upgrading my room and making sure I was comfortable. On top of that, he went above and beyond by letting me know I have Silver status with IHG (which I wasn’t aware of) and added 500 bonus points to my account as a courtesy. It was a thoughtful touch that made me feel genuinely valued as a guest. Manav was professional, knowledgeable, and truly guest-focused. Due to my Platinum status, we were upgraded to a suite in this hotel and I couldn't have been happier-- the location is excellent (we were looking for a hotel close to our friends near Sutter Field) and very convenient, being right off the highway. The room and lobby was very clean and all staff members very polite and helpful, even over the Thanksgiving holiday. The only issue that keeps this from being a 5-star stay is that the shower pressure could have been stronger, and the shower made a very loud screaming noise while being used. Otherwise, excellent and would not hesitate to stay again!

When I arrived, the front desk was very polite and helpful and got me checked into my room. My room had a nice layout and was clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. I didn’t have any issue stay in there. Everybody was quiet and my breakfast. The next morning was good. I had cheese, omelettes and cranberry juice and a little bit of bacon, but there was a good variety of everything for everybody, and I would recommend staying here.

I made an honest booking mistake and realized the very next day that I had selected the wrong month. I immediately contacted the hotel, explained the situation, and asked to rebook for the correct dates (one month later). The hotel had availability for both the original and correct dates, so this was not a situation where my room prevented them from selling out. What was most disappointing was not the policy itself, but the complete lack of empathy and ethical judgment shown by management. I was told refunds were not possible due to “policy,” yet IHG customer service confirmed that resolution was ultimately at the manager’s discretion. The only thing good about this hotel was it's proximity to the freeway. The customer service was horrible. Not only did I have to wait forever to get into a room, when they gave me a key it was to a room already occupied. What a safety iasue!!! When I finally got into an occupied room and settled in, maintenance knocked on my door then walked away disturbing my rest. And to top off my stay, the bathtub was too gross to use. I have been an IHG member for sometime but this experience is convincing me to accurate my points elsewhere.
