Holiday Inn Express & Suites Fort Lauderdale Airport South by IHG

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport South.||We returned from our cruise on Saturday, and since our flight wasn’t until Sunday the 21st, this hotel was truly a breath of fresh air. From the moment we entered, the environment was welcoming. Although the staff was very busy, everyone was pleasant and attentive.||Jonnia B. and Andre G. at the front desk handled everything very professionally and efficiently. We arrived earlier than check-in, and they kindly allowed us to store our luggage so we could explore the area. Andre took the time to go over nearby restaurants and places within walking distance. The location of the hotel was very close to the airport, so perfect for someone with a short layover. I went there to shower and get some rest before the second leg of my trip so was only there for about 4 hours. The staff was friendly and the hotel appeared to be clean, however after exiting my shower there were little tiny roaches crawling on the bathroom floor. The bed was comfortable and the ac was working perfect I honestly can’t comment on the amenities as I wasn’t there long enough to see or use any. If it wasn’t for the roaches in the bathroom, I would go back, but unfortunately it’s a hard no for me.

When you are not familiar with an area, you worry if you are making the right choice. We were very pleased with the fact they had free transportation from the FLL airport. Upon getting there, the cleanliness of the hotel lobby and the room was very nice. The young man working behind the check in desk even offered us information of close restaurants to grab dinner at. The next morning we got up and went to the breakfast in the lobby. The pancake maker was out of order but everything else was good. The young lady working the desk was more interested in her phone when we checked out but luckily we didn't need anything. For the reason we were there, we were happy with our choice of hotel.

The room was ready at 6 PM. There were so many people waiting for their rooms. The lobby restrooms were closed; you had to ask the front desk to open them. The staff was completely unfriendly, and they apologized in a mocking tone. The elevators were old, noisy, and frightening. The area was unpleasant. When we finally got our room, it had a view of a wall and the side of the pool. The pool was empty and under renovation, which they never mentioned. The beds didn't have sheets, and they weren't in the room. We had to ask for them. I had to make the bed myself, and the sheets were stained. The sofa bed mattress was old, poor quality, and noisy. The room was dark, large but ugly. I don't know what was supposedly renovated; the bathroom is old, with a shower curtain, not a glass enclosure. It

This hotel is located in a very sketchy area of Dania with not many stores/restaurants in walking distance. The hotel also charges for parking which should really be free. The free breakfast was not very good. There was nothing to drink as the water and juice machine broken. When I asked if I could take a water or juice from the hotel’s shop the hotel said it was not possible. As for the rooms, the hotel is starting to show its age and wear here. Nearly every wall outlet was broken and unusable. I have travelled to third world countries like Cuba and all the wall outlets always work. This hotel has a sensor that raises the air conditioner’s temperature overnight when there is no movement in the room which made the room very hot. I suspect this is done to save costs for the hotel.
