Holiday Inn Cleveland-S Independence by IHG

We were not very happy with our experience for a few reasons. After getting to our room we hung out and wanted to order food from downstairs while we got ready. We tried to use the phone to call the front desk for information but our hotel phone didn’t work and the electrical was behind a wall so we couldn’t look at it ourselves. I called from my cell phone and the woman that answered didn’t care about the phone not working and didn’t offer to have someone replace it or fix it. We asked about ordering food and she said we can order online and they will bring it up. We asked for extra blankets bc there were none. She had an attitude and was in a rush to get off the phone. My family reunion was at this hotel last summer and it was a great time so I also chose it for my birthday staycation and I'm glad I did. The staff was professional and courteous, the property was clean and my room was comfortable. I was able to relax at the pool, chill and watch tons of cable TV channels and enjoy the live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. The food and beverage prices are very reasonable compared to most other hotels, but there are lots of restaurants nearby to fit all tastes and budgets. The hotel is very close to a movie theatre so I even snuck in the new Captain America movie during my stay. I recommend this hotel for locals as well as visitors to Cleveland.

While the rooms are in the process of being renovated, there is still some dated appearance in them. Everything was super clean and the staff was very friendly. We were there for a conference and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful than they were. This is a great place for a conference, event, party or other social gathering.

. As an IHG member I shocked by my experience. Room and bathroom were unclean; mold in the corner of the shower, "stuff" on the bedroom carpet, a sunken sofa that felt like an elephant had sat on it. As for the room itself, the shower was a "trickler" and the towels felt like sandpaper. While I was surprised that breakfast didn't come with the room like most hotels in its price range these days, the modest $12.95 per person price paid for an equally modest and stale buffet. Didn't find the staff particularly warm and friendly either.

This was a comfortable, clean, and enjoyable stay during a trip to Cleveland. Checking in was fairly transactional, and I had to ask for directions to the room since I was just handed a key following ID verification. This was especially needed as the fist ball heads to a different hotel. The room was spacious and clean, with plenty of hot water and a well functioning AC. The fan was loud on the AC unit which was great for sleeping. Related, the door to the hall and to the adjoining room (another guest) were very thin, and both nights I had the experience of listening to other people’s conversations in the hall, and the TV next door.
