Harpers Ferry Campground

Great trail to town. from r v park. Town is not bike friendly. To get to the famous bike trail, you have to carry your bikes down 3 flights of stairs. No fun carring a 65 lb electric bike. Age group over 70. Most cites in usa are bike friendly. Get with it West Virginia!!

Got Tom and Eric as our guide today! They put on a most excellent float. Saved a few folks and overall made the experience fun for the beginner's and more experienced tubers. 10/10 on customer service from the check in to the ride home from yet another Tom. Super cool trip highly recommended! See you guys next time!

We went on a last minute couples trip for labor day weekend and stayed in the first Hike in Island site. It was a good size for two tents and the pop up for the picnic table. The grounds-keeping had not been consistently done through the summer and our view of the river was almost none. Bring water shoes for swimming in the river, it was rocky then mucky, like a river. The location was super convenient to the national park and other attractions. ||||As others have written about the noise from the train, zip line and traffic was noticeable. Everything except the trains made noise from like 9:30 am to about 7 pm. ||||The real deal breaker for us was the bathroom situation. This is a wonderful place to camp. The waterfront is really beautiful! The Campground Caretaker/Host was personable and helpful, most excellent at his job! The sites are on the higher end of costs as you will see if you look. The bike trail from the campground to harpers ferry is passible but quite overgrown. the 2 down trees you have to cross have obviously been there for a long time and the brush needs to be cut back! The sites are packed in tight but most campgrounds do that! I would not tent camp here unless you can sleep through freight trains going by 40 yards away all night long. with the air conditioner turned up in my camper it pretty much drowns anything out.
