This was our 2nd time staying in the Ohio Suite. Our 1st stay was great! This one was a little different. When we arrived we noticed right away that the apartment was not clean. The shower curtain was dirty, the top of the refrigerator was covered in a snickers layer of dust and there was an excessive amount of bugs in the apartment. There were cobwebs in every room, on the ceilings, in the corners, and even in the light shades. What was really disturbing was the amount of not only live bugs (spiders, black ants, silverfish) but piles of dead bugs around the bed on the floor, and all over the shelves. It automatically made the stay uncomfortable. The cleaning lady showed up to take care of 2 other rooms and spent a total of 20 mins in each after ppl left. She did offer to come in and clean
Power of suggestion? Maybe. Our exciting weekend was cut a little short not so much by the train, but more so because of a sudden onset of being terribly uncomfortable around town combined with the feeling of someone sitting on the bed throughout the night. Great communication with the owners and we certainly appreciated the on-site parking!
Fabulous fall weekend stay at the 1799 Inn. First time in Harper’s Ferry in many years and this place was great. Amazing location. Parking spot (which is huge in town we found out) our suite was the Iron Horse on the 2nd floor. Place itself was very historical and felt like it fit the town. Owners were very quick to respond to anything we needed. So cool to be right across the street from the train station I got so excited when they’d go by, highly recommend and would stay here again when we return to the area.
I can’t recommend this location to stay in Harpers Ferry. While the location was great, the Ohio room which we were assigned was unacceptable with regards to cleanliness and maintenance. We were greeted with a porch of cobwebs and dirty outdoor furniture. The room wasn’t much better. There were a lot of moths in the bedroom and live spiders in spider webs. Floors were dirty and the coffee pot was unsanitary. When we called the hosts, they said they were sending back the cleaner. Shouldn’t it be clean when you arrive? Couldn’t sleep in the bed because it was broken. Had to sleep on the floor. Needless to say, we didn’t stay the second night. And after sending pictures to the host they would not reimburse our second night. There are a few other bed and breakfast
Perfect location to experience Harper's Ferry! Great room and amenities.
