Hampton Inn & Suites Grand Rapids-Airport 28th St

The staff at this hotel is truly something special. From the moment I arrived, everyone was warm, kind, and full of positive energy. You can feel the good vibes right away. I had already paid for a room when I received a hotel voucher, and without hesitation, they refunded me so I could use the voucher instead. That level of care and flexibility meant a lot, especially while navigating travel delays. They also offered me water, checked in on me, and made sure I felt supported the whole time. Even simple moments like coordinating the shuttle (which services several nearby hotels) were handled with patience and friendliness. Every interaction felt genuine. IMPRESSED! We had a small snafu - checked out one night early (we had informed the front desk in time to avoid a charge)...but got charged anyway. We contacted the hotel and they went above and beyond making it right - they comped our entire stay - we paid $0. I am always impressed when a business makes things right - well done. In addition to that, we have stayed here several times (it is 5 minutes from my daughter's house)...it is clean, friendly staff, good hot breakfast - like all the Hamptons, it is great value. My favorite feature of Hampton Inn is that they wash their duvet covers in between every guest - that's important to us. We were once upgraded to a 2 Queen Suite and that's what we choose every time now. It is so spacious and functional. Whole heartedly recommend!

Positive: Friendly staff. Not the fake (have to be friendly because its the job) but friendly, helpful.staff. Negative: Elevator is really slow.

Our stay was great, it was just a quick overnight stay with other family members. The rooms were clean, the common areas were nice and well maintained, including the pool area. It was quiet when necessary and the customer service was pretty good as well. The breakfast was the standard hotel breakfast, nothing to rave about but was good enough to tide you over until checkout. I also appreciated the noon checkout time. It's nice to not feel so rushed.

For the past 4 years I have stayed at Hampton/ Hilton hotels almost every week with very few issues. This afternoon while checking in the lady at the desk asked to see my ID, I opened my billfold so she could see it through the clear window which I have done at other Hampton inn with no issues. She informed me I HAD to take it out so she could see the whole license. My whole license is CLEARLY visible inside the clear section. My billfold had accidentally went through the wash and has shrunk around it. The only was to get it out would be to tear it. The only way I'm going to tear it is if the police need it. I'm pretty sure she did not check the ID of the guest in front of me, she made me feel like I was try to pull something shady. It's this type of treatment that prompted me to cancel
