Hampton Inn Richmond - South

Not a bad HI. The good; It's close to downtown, maybe a 10 minute drive taking either the back roads or the 95. The staff was very nice. Everything was clean. There are a couple of parking spots for vehicles towing trailers. The bad; (and this is mainly aimed at management, and might be specific to room 216.) The platform bed frames had box springs under the mattresses. Mine squeaked everyime I moved and it woke us up. The AC unit had a 'fan always on' button, but it didn't work, and the cycling on and off woke us up, instead of a white noise. And then there was the excessive air freshener in our room. It was a good smell, but overpowering. Someone got a little carried away spraying it around. We really didn't get our usual good sleep at HI's, but I'm not trying to complain. I'd certainly

Have stayed at other Hampton Inns that have been good experiences but can’t say the same about this one. Good sized room, clean and presentable, but bed side lamp bulb flickering on and off. Called front desk for new bulb but, eventually, had to go to lobby and request again. No food or beverages in any of the vending machines. Tepid water in the shower. Breakfast was free…and awful. The best I can say about this particular location is that bed was comfortable.

Quick overnight stay on our way home. Room was fresh and clean, everything in good condition. Young man at front desk was friendly, quick and competent. Breakfast area was spotless and well stocked. The woman running the breakfast was friendly and welcoming. Even received a to go bag with snacks for the final leg of our journey. Very pleasant night’s stay.

I got a $250 charge for cleaning fee!!! They are saying my dog peed and pooped all over the room and I received a photo with 2 yellow dots on the carpet! This is the evidence? The photo could be taken in any room and doesn’t say my room number and all room has the same carpet! Stay away from that hotel!!

This is the absolute worst Hampton Inn you could ever have the misfortune of trying to book a room at. We really got scammed here and neither corporate nor the staff at this location are willing to help at all. We regularly travel to and from Georgia and New York with our two kids. Often we try to stay in southern VA because it’s a good stopping point if you’re trying to do the trip in two days. We often book our room while traveling by first calling the hotel and setting up our stay before we arrive. When we booked our room we were told that we could have two double beds, one for us and one for the kids. We arrived at the hotel after a long drive at around 9pm only to find out that they have oversold the location and could only offer us a room with a king bed. We respectfully declined th
