A quirky University themed hotel at the site of New Haven heritage hotel - Hotel Duncan. Location is brilliant, right beside Yale and close to New Haven Green. Rooms were small compared to the charges. Overall a pleasant stay. Thank you
I spent a week at this hotel, which recreates a classic British style in the setting of an Ivy League environment in New England. The rooms don’t have views, but they compensate with a high level of comfort, and I must highlight the excellent lighting. The bathroom cleanliness and towels are outstanding, and the amenities make the stay genuinely pleasant. The hotel also has the Poindexter café, where they serve excellent specialty coffee that is truly worth trying. I only had the English muffins, but all the pastries looked delicious. The fact that the café is open to the public creates a warm, lively atmosphere throughout the hotel. That said, some of the lounge-style rooms designed for reading or working were occupied by students, who ideally shouldn’t take up space intended for guests.
The Graduate is such an experience. It is so welcoming, nicely decorated, lots of wood and "old school" vibes. It is very clean and the staff are so friendly. Our room was beautiful from the wall decor paintings to the bed, linens, etc. The shower/bathroom was elegant, yes I said elegant. And the shower door had no water marks a little while after use. I need to know how they are made and where do you buy them! It was quiet and very comfortable. The location was great because we had to go to the Smilow Hospital and it was just 4 minutes away.
Very boutique hotel with detailed interior design work performed on it. This used to be a dorm room for Yale students and they've kept that ambiance. You'll see highly curated furnishings that will really make you appreciate the time it took a designer to come up with. Don't expect any cookie cutter layouts of furniture from this hotel. The staff are super friendly and amongst some of the most friendly hotel staff I've encountered. I plan to visit New Haven again solely for the hotel, and will make up day time activities to fill the time.
Great location, beautiful lobby and rooms, warm and welcoming staff…lower review was more out of frustration of not being able to find a place to sit and talk, have a coffee and relax as a guest because the place is taken over by students (often one per table) studying. This literally was until 11pm at night…students use as a place to meet for groups and solo study. Just disappointing as a paying guest not to be able to use the lovely lobby rooms/nooks
