Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Des Moines Airport

Just a great hotel to stay at when flying in/out of Des Moines Airport. They provide a shuttle at very early times if needed and even had a very limited selection of cold breakfast items at 4am. Sadly we left too early to have their regular breakfast choices. The check-in was quick, friendly and easy even though we had to swap rooms due to bed selection. They room was very clean and comfortable.

Positive: What I liked best about this hotel was location, it is close to the airport. They provide hot breakfast which is convenient especially when you’re traveling with family. It also has a in door pool which the children liked. Negative: There wasn’t anything specifically that we didn’t like. But we would have liked a microwave in the room to heat food.

I stayed at this hotel last Saturday night and had a horrible experience. I stayed in room 314 which is on the top floor. It rained throughout the night and leak just tapped on the ceiling all night. There is clearly a leak on the roof. I got no sleep. I went down and spoke to the employee at 3am. He tried to accommodate me to another room but there were not 2 beds available. He was nice and I think felt bad. Hard to believe the hotel didn’t know about the problem.

I'm totally impressed! This is an extremely well-run motel. Everything was clean and functioning. The staff fell all over themselves helping us. Judy (the breakfast maven) was helpful beyond all expectations! The only downside was that the room was pretty dark and it was a real challenge arranging the curtains to maximize privacy.
