Downtown SLO Inn

I'm a pretty simple traveler, my reviews are based on 5 easy criteria: cleanliness/safety of the property, friendliness/helpfulness of the staff, cleanliness/function of the room, is there hot water, does the TV work. My stay at the SLO Inn this time: property is clean and well kept, room/bed was great for the price, water was awesomely hot! However, the gent at the front desk (manager? owner?) - well, he basically gave me clear signals that he didn't want guests - definitely seemed like I was inconveniencing him by even checking in, and when my TV didn't work in the morning (I just like to watch the morning news...), a total lack of interest or motivation to come up and get it going - this with maybe 6 cars in the parking lot so he was not busy. So 3 out of 5 stars this time.

Positive: Nothing really. Negative: This hotel needs to update the rooms and it's itinerary. We were reading that it had a continental breakfast so we go down there and ask were it's at and the owner said that it's was old information and just laughed. We walked away. Also it sucked.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this motel sep 26, 2025 for two nights. I reported bed bugs biting me around 1am on the first night. I was also willing to show the red dots forming on my body. My boyfriend had a few on his lower back. The owner only inspected the bed and rejected them being bed bugs, but did move us from a king room to a room with two smaller beds. BOTH beds in that room also had bed bugs! My entire front and back of my legs and parts of my back and behind my arms have formed red dots. It's now been four days since we've left the motel and the rash dots are still all over my legs and are extremely itchy, as they heal. This has been an extremely horrible experience. The location is perfect when going on a road trip and easy access on and off the Highway. Downtown is a short ride way. Check in was simple. Front desk folks are was super friendly and informative. They have this new hang out spot outside to be with friends or alone. I do love Mountain View from my room on the 2nd floor. Basic necessities without overpaying. I’ve been stopping here for the last 3 years or so and I still love staying here, the property has had changes but that’s a good sign of the owners and attention to care.

I have stayed at this place a couple of times when I go to San Luis Obispo to see my grandchildren. I only sleep there. Each time there has been something wrong with something in the bathroom. The first time I came, the water faucet for the shower turned on, but broke when I turned it off! Water was just flooding into the tub shower! They moved me to another room for repairs. The another time the bathroom fan was so unstable it made the light flicker like a strobe. I just unscrewed it! I also noticed black stains on the sheets. I called down for new sheets and the manager said they weren’t dirty but the laundry service doesn’t get the stains out! I suggested getting a new laundry service! I have stayed here only when there is no other choice.
