DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Rochester

I have mixed feelings about this place. I booked the stay last minute due to traveling arrangements - good. The price was reasonable - again, good. The front desk attendant was personable & kind - excellent. They had a café & a bar/restaurant onsite, which was convenient - great (really didn't feel like braving the weather to grab a bite). The indoor pool & gym facilities were top notch (though I didn't partake in either) - great. Renovations were being conducted so it was somewhat dirty and had dust trails in the halls - not good. In the morning, I went to their bistro to have breakfast and was informed that they did not offer the complimentary breakfast buffet that I was looking forward to - disappointing. I ordered an omelet and was not impressed (picture attached) - again, disappoint

People here were solid. The rooms could use some investment. First room we walked into had a bathroom floor covered in water. Someone didn’t shut the shower off and it was dripping long enough to cause that. Front desk was great and got us a new room right away. Second room was good, but the shower nozzle was a major inconvenience. Rooms were very clean. Reminder that DT doesn’t do complimentary breakfast. People said the breakfast place was good inside though. Again, just needs some investment in the parking lot and rooms.

A lot of the reviews were pretty brutal, but the hotel was fairly close to my client , was recently renovated,and there were quite a few dining options available nearby, so I went ahead and gave them a try. I used the app for a contactless check in and requested a digital key card. Everything was flawless. The room (613) was spacious, clean, the bed was very comfortable and the furnishings were fine, albeit a tad worn. The hotel lobby is nice, the elevator was fairly quick but the interior looked very tired with years of wear.Everything in the room was great except for the desk lamp not working due to a blown bulb. I contacted John at the front desk ( very professional and amazing customer service!)via chat and Jarvis, the Chief Engineer, addressed this very quickly . I’ll be here for 3 ni

If you want a quiet place to relax, don’t stay near the elevators. The hotel is under renovation (great). My room has been updated. They should have replaced the toilet. Doesn’t flush well. No desk chair. The workers were rolling carts up until midnight near my room. At 6am, the housekeeping staff were rolling carts on the tile floor and talking loudly in the hallway, someone was stomping in the room above on the new, vinyl laminate floor. Ugh. I’m not even sure the rooms near the end of the hallway would be ok unless you were on the top floor?

Positive: The staff were all very nice and friendly Negative: No garbage bags, but maybe thats how they do things there. Only 1 washcloth for 3 people. Bathroom wasnt very cleanly, could see someone's hair in the rim of the drain, shower pan didn't seem to clean.
