Courtyard by Marriott Rochester Downtown

despite the nice and newly renovated bathrooms, this hotel room was not adequate for a four persons stay. When my suitemates and I went to pull out the couch, we realize that there is no mattress, just pads. The pads were stained and felt like rocks. Absolutely not suitable for anybody to sleep on, inhumane. this left my three roommates and I to share the queen bed which did not go over well, but was our only solution to the horrible spatial issues in this room.

I have stayed at a lot of hotels in the past two years, and the Courtyard Rochester Downtown is now one of my favorites because of the little things. The room and bathroom were clean, spacious and well arranged (enough counter space in the bathroom, smart furniture, etc.). The bed was super comfortable. The Bistro area was a great place for me to hang at 4 am so that my husband could continue to sleep uninterrupted for a couple of hours (having a comfortable place to go in the early morning is a big plus for me). Also, the gym had an area WITH mirrors where I could complete an online workout using my iPad. Normally hotel gyms put the weight benches in front of the mirrors and the equipment many women use (mats, bands, balls, etc.) in a back corner with no mirrors. The hotel location was g

The hotel is very new, the room is large and the sleep is very comfortable. Although there are some hairs on the towels, it is generally clean and hygienic. I will stay here again if I come to Rochester next time.

Hotel was nice. Centrally located. Rooms were very clean. One issue was the breakfast staff was understaffed leading to long lines and wait times in the morning for coffee or food. This was during the big snow storm Feb 6-8, so it could have been related to that. We were there for a funeral and since the weather was so bad, the entire family stayed in the lobby/bar Saturday night and ran up a tab in honor of the deceased. The bartenders, Cruz and Aaron, were awesome and did a great job. Shout out to them!

While the hotel is fine and clean, and there is no sign of bed bugs (I inspected thoroughly), hotels get one star when guests are continually woken up by road noise and people revving their engines until 4am. This is a complete failure by hotel for putting up with this, failing to liase with the city of Rochester and failing to implement any strategies to reduce this nonsense. I would never stay at this hotel again. I'm a heavy sleeper and even I was continually waking up to these people that think they need to rev their engines at 3am. Staff are nice but this is completely unsatisfactory. I've stayed in many downtown hotels around the world. Never have I experienced this. I even brought it up to the front desk in the morning and they acknowledged it's a problem.
