Desert Tortoise Campground

The campground is popular during the winter months and not only because of the weather, because of the Wild Burros in the area. When I arrived space #126, there was a drove of five to greet me. Apparently there is no time restrictions on generator use. The trailer next to me ran their generator a lot and after 10pm. Now I'm not complaining but I'm deaf with my CI on.

Great view of the lake. Staff is real nice and professional at the gate. The camping area was real clean, the whole park is kept up beautifully.

The camp facilities are very nice. Very secure dry camp behind a key code gate. Flush toilets with water available at bathrooms. Concrete tables under shade covers. BUT…… No enforcement of generator hours. I’m sitting here at 10:30pm listening to a very loud generator whose owner says they need it for their cpap machine. Better options for boondocing nearby.

This is a wonderful spot where you can enjoy a pleasant Lake that is very clear, can see to that bottom for over 30 ft and hangout with Donkeys! 🫏✨️ yes they make noise, and yes they will make their rounds... so don't leave any food out, made the mistake of leaving an orange on the table and a donkey just ate it all in one bite.

Amazing hosts, the campgrounds are so neat and tidy. There are a lot of sites but theyre spaced out enough so you feel alone. 11-5 our check in was amazing, they go above and beyond. Melissa in the morning for our check out was so kind and friendly. They reset the campsites everyday after you check out which keeps it all looking so clean. There are nice modern bathrooms and even showers! Some sites with running water and electricity!!! Will def come again!
