Positive: The only thing good about this hotel is that it’s located near the places I went to grand rapids to see. Negative: This hotel is awful. The room was dirty. The mirror & tv stand were broken. The sheets were dirty. It looked like they had just remade the bed after the last person instead of changing the sheets. I asked for clean sheets and they were dirty too! Gross
The front desk staff was very kind, though when we arrived to our room, it was freezing cold. Upon further inspection, the window was wide open and broken so it couldn’t close and the heater was unplugged. After notifying the front desk, the worker quickly relocated us to a new, heated room and even helped us carry our bags. He was very kind. Our room was fine, comfy beds, and a big TV that we did not use. Lamp on desk only worked if you jiggled the cord in a certain way. There was no clock in the room, which was unusual. It appeared that there was supposed to be a smoke detector above the beds, but it was just exposed wires. The bathroom was fine, though a bit run down. The outlet in there was loose and it was hard for us to pull out a plug without it risking coming off the wall. The h
Overall the hotel is pleasant. The room was nice and clean, affordable, and quiet. Service was friendly and helpful, but in the evenings it was difficult to find an employee if you needed help. There's a pool, it's clean, though it was not stocked with towels And there is a Continental breakfast offered, but it was severely lacking. There were a few sausage links, eggs, yogurt cups, and biscuits and to drink there was apple juice, cranberry juice, or coffee. It's a spread I wouldn't be particularly disappointed with if there weren't several things obviously missing. There's a waffle maker, but no batter available, a juice dispenser with 4 different options, none of which work, and cereal dispensers with no cereal in them. Overall, not a bad stay, it was perfect for what we needed it for,
I have stayed in this hotel for a conference each year for at least 3 years in a row and possibly longer. It's been affordable each stay, but this year was possibly my last stay there. The cleanliness was lacking more than past stays. The breakfast was also quite poor quality compared to past stays. Also, the drink dispenser didn't work at all, but nobody bothered to put an "out of order" sign on it. When I asked if it was broken, the desk attendant said that it was empty and brought a jug of apple juice from a refrigerator in the kitchen that tasted terrible or expired. Each year, I book a two night stay. I don't expect a super nice hotel given the price of the stay, but this experience has soured my opinion of this particular Country Inn and Suites.
I gave this hotel a 2 star overall because of a few reasons. 1. We stayed for one night, and our original price was $99 before taxes. After finally paying it was $150.02. The tax alone was a whopping 0.41% or also known as $41. There is also a fee if you have more than 2 adults and 2 children, and that fee is $4.99 per person, so I would not recommend this place if you have more than that, and are planning on one room. 2. Prepare for a possibility of no hair dryers. We came into the room, could not find any, so we went to the front desk and asked for one. They told us there is no more hair dryers if there is none behind the door in your bathroom. The unfortunate continental breakfast; was a bit of a disappointment, when the same lady at the front desk told us the truck had not come and
