Colonial Motel and Spa

I stopped here for the annual ski jump, and I was pleasantly surprised! Although the property may be quite dated, it's still well kept. The room was clean and quite large, and the bed was very comfortable. As a hotel guest, I had access to the spa which was fantastic. Sauna, steam room, warm pool, hot tubs, all very nice. Then in the morning, there was a standard hot hotel breakfast, and in a world where check-out keeps getting earlier, it was nice to see another 11AM check-out again.

As we have many times over the past 30 years, my wife and I enjoyed our recent 3-night stay at the Colonial Motel. We stayed in the Bennington Suite, which is large, well laid out and very comfortable. While not everything there is new and updated, everything worked. At the front desk, Diane was welcoming and attentive to any and all questions we had -- the Colonial and its guests are fortunate to have her excellent services and attitude! The breakfast is adequate and lasts all the way up to 10 AM. Finally, a standout feature of the Colonial is and always has been its connection to the pool/spa complex on the property -- 2 large pools, an exercise room and a new, very effective hot tub. Rooms are older but very clean and comfortable. Pool area was clean and the water was heated, which is a plus considering this was a winter visit. Very satisfied with the included breakfast as well. Food was fresh and of a good quality. I had an enjoyable stay, and the receptionist was also very warm and welcoming.

Im gonna start off with the fact that some of these reviews scared me and my husband BUT this place is NOT as bad as people make it out to be! I think part of it is where me and my husband are from this little town felt like home. We also stayed here in mid October. Now we did have to check in 15min later then the designated check in but thats here nor there. The room was nice, the bed was comfy and the bathroom clean and it even had a heat lamp in there. The only complaint about the room was the floor! It was so noisy! Luckily we were on the bottom level so we didnt have to worry about bothering someone underneath. We almost stayed here, and thankfully I looked at the reviews beforehand. However, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with incompetent staff. First, I called on 10/17 to make a reservation for my 6-year anniversary. Then I called on 10/23 to cancel after reading the reviews (thank goodness). Fast forward to the day of the reservation; the same man I spoke to before to cancel the reservation is now calling me, asking what time I plan to check in. I tell him we spoke three days ago when I canceled it. I ask if I'm going to be charged for the room or a cancellation fee, to which he replies no. Well, the next day, guess who is charged $179 for the room? Me. Needless to say, if they are able to provide terrible service before even getting a room, I can only imagine what the rooms and p
