Clifton House

My husband and I booked the Clifton house for our 10 year wedding anniversary. It was by far the best place we have ever stayed! We stayed in both the Audobon suite and the Panorama suite because we originally booked the Audobon for two nights and loved it so much we decided to stay another two nights. Both suites were amazing! So clean and comfortable. The property manager was kind enough to let us move rooms early instead of having to move our things and then wait till check in at 4:00. She was kind, helpful, and prompt in her responses. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back to the Clifton House!

Book at your own risk!!! The room access code we received did not work. We called the 24/7 phone number they supplied and left several messages. It took them over 3 hours to get back to us and then I was given the excuse that she was on a flight and couldn't get back to us. However by then I had already called my credit card company to disputed our payment and found somewhere else to stay. Thank goodness we had a late lunch since I spent my evening try to find another accommodation. Imagine driving all day and discovering you don't have a place to stay or time for dinner.

At 7:15pm I called my credit card company to dispute our payment and started trying to find other accommodations. What a nightmare. Imagine driving all day then discovering you have no where to stay.

It was not too difficult to find the location to pick up the key in Natchez and also easy to find the house. The house is nicely decorated and there is water and (flavoured) coffee available to all guests at all times. The terrace is a dream - overlooking the Mississippi while lounging in comfortable chairs to enjoy the sunset. However - the room we booked on booking.com was titled a "Deluxe Suite with Queensize bed" was just a regular small room with not even enough space for our two suitcases. I stored mine in the rather large and very clean bathroom while my husband had his in the bedroom. The bathroom and also the furniture in the room were all nicely clean - however the carpet needs urgent cleaning - better yet replacement. Yes, the view is beautiful. Yes, the room and house is nice. However, I must ask…is this an Airbnb, bnb, hotel or just a room to rent? I was first attracted by the rate and then came the $65 cleaning fee. Exhausted from looking, I just accepted the fee structure. When we arrive we use the codes to get in. Typical Airbnb practice. The only drawback, we couldn’t use the kitchen. Was this a bed & breakfast… there was no breakfast. Was this a hotel, no. There was no staff available. That cleaning fee did get the room clean but not the coffee mugs on the dining room table that had mold growing in them. The house felt disconnected. Beautiful but no warmth. It’s managed by a company that has hundred properties and this home felt like just one of the places on their roster.
