Clarion Inn Harpers Ferry-Charles Town

Post check-in, the hallway carpet was no longer carpet, but instead it was worn down to the padding and dirty. Next, the elevator had so many fingerprints and stains that it felt unsanitary pushing any button on it with bare hands. The inspection certificate was over 2 years old and seemed mechanically unfit. The carpet in the hallway on floor 3 was in the same condition as lobby hallway. Inside the room, the sink handle was loose and hot water took overtime to get warm, as did the shower and didn't stay warm or hot for long. The shower tub was visibly worn and the section meant to be nonslip was now slick and thus very slippery. The windows were dirty to the point of obstructing the view. Good morning. I have stayed at the Clarion in Harpers Ferry WVA several times. It is always my go to as far as hotels when I stay in WVA. I started noticing different things. The renovations seem to be with hodge podge random furniture to fill up space. The lobby area represents the hotel and it should be reflected in how it is designed, decorated and set up during holidays and regular season. I was there after Thanksgiving and before Christmas but no decorations were put up. I email the GM (him) as directed by the front desk and I emailed but never heard back. I had issues with indoor pool the last few time that we have been there. My family was there right after Christmas. The lobby was decorated fine. The pool still has a greasy feel. The ladies at the front desk were friendly. We were in the main building and walking down the hallway to our room there was several plug in air fresheners but you could still get a whiff of musty air. The door to the room was dirty. The room was dirty also. The floor in the bathroom was sticky and I’m not 100% sure the room was cleaned. The breakfast was nothing to write home about. The waffles were the best thing. Pancakes were rubbery and the eggs tasteless. This hotel needs a refresh. It smells old and needs more than a deep clean.

I was sooo disappointed with my most recent stay at this hotel (10/3-4/25.) I stayed here in June, 2021 and had the best experience - the staff was wonderful, the room was clean and well appointed, the restaurant was really nice, the grounds were clean and welcoming. This stay, however, was almost the complete opposite. Upon arrival, I was struck by how dismal the front of the building and property appeared. When we arrived at the front desk, we were greeted by a very friendly clerk, so that felt comforting. But as soon as we headed to our room, I began to notice how rundown and dirty things were looking. I stayed here in November of 2025 with my family (two teens) and dog. There were four of us total. Positives: staff were very nice and hard working. Location is outstanding 5 min from Harpers Ferry or Charles Town, and conveniently right off the main road. One restaurant tavern with live music is adjoined to the hotel (convenient). Continental breakfast was decent and in a beautiful adjoining, sunlit dining room. Negatives: room was tired and old, location has a dismal appearance from the outside. Still, we would not care as long as the room itself is nice. When we came in, the hallway smelled of smoke from the past. The room itself was musty and had a slight odor but not horrible.
