Clarion Hotel and Conference Center

A fairly decent hotel in the middle of the mountains. We stopped in on our way home from a long road trip. The hotel is clean but dated in some areas. I was satisfied with the clean beds & bathroom, which made for a good nights sleep like we needed. However, I wouldn’t want to stay more than one night here. It is freezing cold in the hallways & in the Mexican restaurant where complimentary breakfast is served. The elevator is very old & the hallways could use an update. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Overall, a decent stay, but definitely some concerns that would make me avoid coming back.

Positive: Awesome shower/bath area remodel. Comfy bed and soft sheets. The room even had a night lite in the bathroom. Well worth the price. Well Done Negative: Lobby is very tacky with its 2 purple velour couches and "sputnick" like chandelier. It gave a "cold" vibe, even though the temp in the lobby was nicely warm.

I like that they allow dogs and that in the dog rooms, there is no carpeting, which makes it feel so much cleaner. There are a few things they could do better such as provide pickup bags for the pet area, the dispenser was empty the whole 5 days I was there. I felt safe and the hotel was quiet, which was nice. I would say the cereal and the waffles were good, but the eggs were not the best. The coffee could really stand an upgrade and could be a bit bolder. The desk staff that I interacted with were all very nice.

Stayed here b/c of the recent snow fall & had to hit Cataloochee. For $81/night its exactly what you expect...there's a bed, running water & some kind of A/C - heat. Elevator was broken. The hallways and stairs were cold as hell. Floors in lobby were wet & filthy. Their attempt to remedy the problem was to throw some towels down. Breakfast was a joke. The eggs & sausage were empty at 8:55 and stayed that way for at least 15 min. Don't even bother going there. Bfast is served in the attached Mexican restaurant (Catrinas). You can skip that place too. Suppose to close at 10 pm, locked up tight at 9 pm. If you are looking to experience life as a survivor of a natural disaster that was put up in the last standing motel by FEMA, then you found the right place Shelia Patel, I would

1st set of rooms ice cold, warmer outside. was told "we don't keep the air on when we are not busy, 1 of the rooms had no shower curtain and the connecting door latch was broken. also told 4th floor tends to get cold.... uhm so why put people there. next set (2) rooms felt warmer and more welcoming, but no conditioner in the wall holder. 3rd floor still chilly in halls but more tolerable. 830 am on day of discharge housekeeping was knocking on doors! so up earlier than wanted. went to breakfast which was basic and bismal, 930 they start cleaning up, never asked if there was anything (coffee refill, hot chocolate etc) that we wanted before they removed it. as far as i know i had till 10 am.... so we left thirsty. $50 a night hotel at best! not worth the $130 I paid per night for 2 rooms ea
