citizenM San Francisco Union Square

Very much felt like a budget hold wrapped in Marriott dressing. Really nice staff, but the rooms were basically pods with wetrooms (shower and toilet in one, if you're not familiar), breakfast buffet was hosted in a (very clean and nicely designed) hostel sryle living room type lobby and was lacking some fruit (no oranges, for instance) and lean dining options, and the guided "self" check-in and check-out in flet cheap. Overall, felt more like a hostel/budget hotel than something I would expect from Marriott. That said, the location is convenient if you want to be union square, they have a rooftop and a gym, and the breakfast they do provide is more than adequate for most folks without dietary restrictions. And as stated, the staff is lovely.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. The staff's atmosphere and service were excellent, and the room was clean and well-appointed, making for a comfortable business trip. I would definitely stay here again when I come to San Francisco. Security was also good, and it was convenient to have a microwave so I could heat up a lunch box I bought nearby.

We spent three nights at the CitizenM Union Square Hotel in San Francisco during a West Coast vacation. The hotel is well located for seeing the sights of the city by the Bay. The hotel has a modern and hip vibe with a super friendly staff. Rooms are compact but beds are big and comfortable. Most of the electronics like the TV, roller shades and lights are controlled for a computer pad. Because of the small size of the room, the third floor lobby area serves as your living room with food, bar, TVs, comfortable seating and more. If space is your thing, the the CitizenM might not be for you but it worked well for us . . . especially since we were out enjoying the city for most of our stay.

In theory, I like the idea of this hotel. As far as Union Square is concerned, the location is relatively safe. I found my room to be small and a bit dirty. The service was fine, but nobody was available to help with bags. I think if you are looking for an acceptable and cheap hotel in S,F this is it, but definitely room for improvement.

Stayed here on vacation due to location in SanFran and price of hotel room. Was a bit shocked at the size of the room (based on the hotel site's pics), but adapted to staying in the room. If you're traveling solo 1 person can be comfortable in the room I was given...if it's 2 people you'd better make sure you REALLY like each other. Shower (once I figured out the controls) had great water pressure and temp, and in-room iPad controls were fairly simple to figure out (take the time to play around with them to get the room settings they way you like). Hotel staff were all great. Lorenzo (who I believe is the lead manager?) was super nice & helpful when the tablet check-in process didn't work, getting me on-site food, and with suggestions for other food places nearby.
