I booked in for three nights here.|About two months before my visit, their booking.com account got hacked and I received several messages (from India) to pay the balance of money or lose my booking.||The reservations team were very slow to respond to confirm whether the messages had originated from them, you can not speak to anyone on the phone, and I nearly lost money!||24 hours before my arrival, I got a message from reservations to say they couldn't take my balance because of missing card information, so please use a link to pay. Which I did.||I arrived, to find that they needed ID online of my companion traveller, but there was no link or method of providing the information.||I eventually got this sorted.||Then I found out that they had taken 2 payments for my stay and I then had to de

The hostel is well located and convenient for exploring the city. We stayed in one of the sleeping pods with a double bed. Both the rooms and the shared bathrooms are very clean, and the kitchen allows you to prepare simple meals. There is no traditional stove, but there is an electric pot, an electric pan, and a microwave. Supermarkets are within walking distance. As a relatively affordable accommodation, the hostel can be recommended. However, it does not have a classic hostel atmosphere. The kitchen is the only common area, but there are very limited seating options. As a result, there isn’t really a social vibe in the hostel.

it was our first time staying at a hostel and it was everything we could hope for and more. if youre in sf to see the city and only need a place to crash at night then this is the best option for you! we didnt spend much time in the common areas but even still it was never overcrowded and everyone was always friendly and helpful. restrooms and showers are super clean and well maintained. theyre located near so many great restaurants and attractions. i recommend bringing a lock of some sort to keep your valuables locked away in the storage provided.

This was my first time staying at a hostel, and I was surprised at how safe and lovely of a time I had! The pods are so, so nice (especially for neurodivergent folk like myself) and all of the safety measures makes being in a room with others still feel safe!

In September and October of 2025 I went to SF for two weeks with my Mum and we enjoyed our stay at The Chapter tremendously. We were looking for an inexpensive place as we didn't plan on spending much time at the hotel to begin with. We just needed a place to sleep after long days of walking around the city, taking in all the sights, or returning from day tours outside the city. The Chapter delivered in spades. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, the pods comfortable (Deluxe in 3 Bed Mixed Room), there were enough bathrooms and showers available for everyone on the floor and everything was clean. We were lucky enough to have a nice room mate who was friendly, but overall kept to himself. And really, our fellow travellers staying on our floor all were polite and quiet. There were n
