Chancellor Hotel on Union Square

In early December My partner and I spent 7 nights at the Chancellor Hotel, and we were very satisfied and would highly recommend this hotel. The location was as good as could be just steps from Union Square and a cable car stop on the same block as the hotel. The room and the hotel premises were spotless, and our room had an extra small room where we could place our luggage which was convenient. The bathroom was not large but fully adequate for two people. Everything about the room was comfortable. I believe the hotel building dates from 1914 and had been painstakingly maintained and had such a charm to it. It was like stepping into a luxury hotel in the 1940's. No AC? No problem! Our Chancellor Hotel experience was absolutely perfect! If our room felt a little stuffy, we opened our window or used the overhead fan. Our closet had a portable fan we never needed to be completely comfortable. What did we love? The service was amazing - nothing but kindness, cleanliness, and small touches that made us feel so happy to be here. Surprise popcorn in the lobby; a coffee machine in the lobby; ice on every floor; a nice cold fridge; a super soft bed and a pillow menu. The Chancellor is so ideally located in Union Station, close to the BART. We loved our stay here and can't say enough about the ease and comfort we experienced during our stay! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A day trip with my son. I checked In and it was a smooth process. I was impressed how the room is so clean…The bed is comfortable. Also the parking fee was cheap. A lot of hotel area charged a lot. Iris was very helpful. The rest of the staff is friendly and attentive too. The location is perfect for someone who wants to explore San Francisco… easy access on transportation… local restaurants … shopping… etc… They have complimentary cookies…fruits and water at the lobby.. Coffee was great …. Very inviting hotel to stay at… i would definitely come back to this hotel!

I booked this hotel last minute after a spontaneous trip to San Francisco and was pleasantly surprised. The price was very reasonable considering the central location.||I honestly couldn’t find anything to complain about. The room was perfectly sized for one person, the bed was comfortable, there were multiple pillow options, and the shower was good. The fridge was a nice touch as well (though I did unplug it due to some noise).||The concierge was also very accommodating and accepted multiple packages on my behalf. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location! We took the BART train from San Francisco airport to Powell Street stop and walked less than 10 minutes to the hotel right in Union Square. Lots of shopping and restaurants in the area, and a couple of blocks from great food in Chinatown. The cable car line starts by the BART station, and runs by the hotel. The Big Bus sightseeing Hop on Hop off bus has a location at the Union Square Park across the street, The hotel itself is a charming older boutique style. Room was very clean, comfortable, and our one queen bed room was small, but had a good size walk in closet for suitcases. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.|The cost of the hotel was a great value. We will definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it.
