Chalet 86

Our stay at Chalet 86 was absolutely wonderful — a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern chic. Every corner was thoughtfully designed, with beautiful decor that made the space feel both stylish and inviting. The cabin was impeccably clean, cozy, and comfortable, offering all the warmth and character you’d hope for in an Adirondack getaway. From the soft lighting to the elegant touches throughout, it felt like stepping into a boutique retreat nestled in nature. Truly a peaceful and inspiring escape we made to Lake Placid — we can’t wait to return!

We truly enjoyed our brief winter getaway at this charming and tastefully decorated chalet. The kitchen was impressively well-stocked with everything one might need—and more! (My son especially loved the mushroom coffee cup.) The primary bedroom featured a comfortable king-size bed, and additional bedding and an abundance of cozy blankets were thoughtfully provided throughout the home. Our only minor concern was that the bathroom tended to be a bit chilly. To offset this, we kept both doors open, allowing warmth from the adjacent rooms to circulate. Despite staying during an exceptionally cold weekend, the heating in the main living areas was more than sufficient. My wife and I stayed at this location for weekend hiking in the Adirondacks, and it served delightfully as our "home base" location. It is well situated off of RTE 86 with close access to the High Peaks, as well as the local hotspots in Keene, Jay, and Lake Placid. Everything we needed was within a 25 minute drive. The interior is welcoming, clean, and with all of the amenities for outdoor adventures. The grill and fire pit are a huge plus for eating and relaxing after being out in the mountains. Jessica is a tremendous host, responsive, kind, and was even nice enough to tell me that we left some things behind in the coat closet and shipped them to us at no cost. I'd highly recommend this location to anybody planning a trip in the ADK! Hoping to stop in again soon.
