Candlewood Suites Reading by IHG

Room was very nice, price was great, bed was comfy, night was restful... My biggest complaint was the water from the tap smelled and tasted awful, which is what holds this back from five stars (for the price point). But that's a minor thing in comparison to everything that went right.

An older property in need of major redo.|Furniture very dated.|The shower rod was hanging on by a thread. Tub wouldn't drain.|Countless things needing repair in the room.|Hallways wreaked of marijuana daily.|Internet was too slow to use.|The long-term residents were sketchy. |Riff-raff walking into the hotel all the time.|Convenient location.|Free laundry.

This is a nice place, homey and very clean. Rooms have nice kitchenettes with all supplies, including popcorn with a bowl in the microwave ready to go! Katie at front desk was the nicest hotel receptionist I’ve ever come across and had great local recommendations for eats. If we are back in your area, would definitely stay again and will recommend to others. Really appreciate the homey vibe of this place.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this location given I saw some recent mixed reviews. The place was fine. I mean, it wasn't a Four Seasons, but you aren't paying for a Four Seasons. I saw a comment from someone who previously reviewed this location who called the furniture 'dated'. I think that is a fair assessment, but the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff could not have been any nicer, and they directed me towards a nice place to eat dinner. My only gripe, and the reason I can't give 5 stars is that the water pressure/hot water in the showers could improve a bit. Perhaps I was taking a shower around 7am when many others were using the shower too, but the best description I could give to the hot water, was 'luke warm'. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

I will never ever stay here again. The comfortable bed and night manager cannot make up for nonworking EV chargers that I paid for and did not charge my car which caused us to miss the event we were in PA for, a stovetop that didn't work well, and an elevator that stopped working every few minutes after being reset. I chose this hotel for EV charging and a kitchen. We did not even stay the second night.
