Worst hotel experience I've ever encountered. This place should not be operating as a hotel. It is dirty, foul smelling and clearly not maintained. First room given had an overwhelming sour odor, loose bathroom tiles, and a filthy bathtub that is cracked and visibly deteriorating. These are safety issues, not just cosmetic complaints. Moved to a second room that reeked of cigarette smoke and equally unacceptable. The front desk offered a third move, but by then it was painfully obvious the problems are not limited to one room. Cleanliness, safety and habitibility are the bare minimum for lodging. This property fails on all three. Do not stay here.

I stayed at this property in March 2025 and am only now getting around to leaving a review. This was by far one of the worst stays I’ve had with IHG! After long international flights into Charlotte, my boyfriend and I were exhausted and just wanted to shower, eat, and sleep. The woman at the front desk was friendly, but things went downhill quickly. We took our luggage upstairs, went to open the door and someone was already in that room. I went back downstairs, she apologized, and issued a new key. We hauled everything to the next room, only to find another guest inside that one as well. I’ve never had this happen once, let alone twice. At that point we were exhausted and frustrated. I asked the front desk to personally confirm a room was empty before we moved our bags again. Positive: The staff treated us like family. Room was clean and well stocked. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. No smell this timel and I credit this to the new housekeeping manager. Thank you? Negative: ""

Given how awful the IHG rewards program is, I should have realized the “deal” I got for using points wasn’t much of a deal at all. Pros: - friendly and attentive staff Cons: - first room smelled horrible! The friendly and attentive staff gave us a new room and called once we reached our new room to ensure we were happy. - The common areas needed a good vacuum. - The elevator button lights and floor indicator panel were inop! - The walls had clearly been touched up, apparently with a different finish paint. - In-room furniture was worn and the mattress had a noticeable divot in the middle. - Room had no bars of soap to wash hands (the shower was stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash). - The laundry room and gym are the same room. I just needed a place to sleep on

To the Candlewood Suites Corporate Office, My wife and I arrived exhausted after a long trip at 11:10 PM. The front desk was unattended for over 20 minutes. A room service employee, untrained for check-in, finally appeared, causing further delay. The room was unacceptable: only two towels and washcloths, a stained bathtub, an unwashed coffee pot, and a strong marijuana smell in the bathroom. The door wouldn’t close fully, allowing disruptive hallway noise. This was a complete failure in service, cleanliness, and basic comfort. I do not recommend this hotel and expect resolution.
