Beacon Grand A Union Square Hotel

Great location! We could walk or catch an Uber easily to everywhere we wanted: Shopping, theaters and restaurants. Service was prompt, informative but no sales pitch. Got checked in early so we were able to drop off our bags and start seeing the city. We had a regular double queen room which was very clean, had a small bathroom but was perfect for our needs. Foyer felt very glamorous and was updated with new furniture during our stay. This will always be my go to hotel as it's so close to Union Square. We walked to the Orpheum theater one night (20 mins away) but was easily able to catch an Uber to Hayes and Fillmore (shopping) and to the Civic center area for more shows. The hotel has a lovely old, grand feel about it and was decorated beautifully for Christmas.

The building has great location and beautiful architectural character, looks amazing. The staff is always friendly and helpful. When I had issues with my room, they immediately moved me to another one. Overall, it’s a great place to stay, but there are a few downsides. The room windows don’t provide good soundproofing, so street noise comes in easily, especially on lower floors. There are also constant static or machine-like background noises. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who is very sensitive to small noises or needs absolute silence.

Would absolutely stay here again. This is truly a beautiful hotel. It has classic architectural features, but everything has been fully renovated and feels very modern. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we had a room with a view, which was absolutely worth it. The room itself was a great size as well. One of the nicest parts of the hotel is the lobby bar, which also serves excellent food and has fantastic bartenders — especially Tony! The front desk staff was always helpful and welcoming. The location is another major highlight. It’s close to great shopping, very central to public transportation, and perfectly situated for hopping in a cab and being almost anywhere within ten minutes. I had a terrific stay at the Beacon Grand Hotel. I travel to SF frequently for work and have tried a few hotels. This is now my preferred. Obviously, the hotel is beautiful and conveniently located, but what really makes it special is the staff. All are truly top tier, attentive, and kind. A special thank you to Kahn, who was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and Alejandro who made adjusting my reservation seamless. The entire team helped make this work trip much more pleasant. Thank you for accommodating me and for the lovely experience.

Positive: The bed and pillows were just right. Clean bed and surfaces. Front desk staff was friendly and professional. Room service guy was fast and personable. Bellhop was great. Biscuits tasted good but were rubbery like day old. Negative: Housekeeping and facilities was loud in the hallway with supplies, walkie talkies, carts, phones and talking to each other. hallways dark and carpet grungy, stained. High pitch noise in room, window did not close, cheap rusting fixtures in bathroom.
