Bay Hotel

Location was great, right next to my Venue for a concert! The man at the front desk was super helpful and they even offer free lodging to homeless at times! Just great people and service all around, the bathroom situation was less than ideal but overall, would come back for sure! P.s. the view was amazing! 10/10

I felt this place needed a honest review after reading so much negative before my stay. Yes, the hotel is located in the Tenderloin an area known for its homeless situation and with a shady past. However, it is on the edge and although the area is a little tired I found no trouble and the homeless were more towards Market st that being said it is no worse than any other major city you’d visit and people should show a little compassion rather than judging. ||The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. It is ideally situated within walking distance to Union square with plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. Transport is very near also and within a few minutes you can be at Pier 39 or fisherman’s wharf. Perfect for solo travelers on a budge

Nice hotel, cheap prices comparing to others, basic meals for the breakfast, friendly staff, Wi-Fi is working. No window in the room (the window exists, but it just goes to the wall). Poor air circulation. The district is full of homeless people around with a bunch of crackets on the streets + garbage on the ground.

This place isn't for the faint of heart. The sidewalk right in front of the hotel is full of homeless people, and a lot of them were actively doing drugs whenever I walked by. When I first approached, one of the people on the street actively started insulting me and calling me slurs, which was scary because the front door of this hotel is normally locked so I had to wait to be let in. The room itself was dire. We had a single window facing an interior space, which I thought would be nice to avoid the street noise, but it actually made the room unbearably hot even though it was *cold* outside. Running the provided fan didn't help. It also had a really heavy smoke smell for a smoke free room that actually made my eyes burn a little. The bathroom seemed clean enough. Location was scary for any sort of tourist or person with luggage. When arriving to hotel we quickly found out the bathroom was shared, but all pictures and information when booking was shown that we would have a room with a bathroom (shared bathroom was blocked and filthy). So many sketchy things in our room- a METAL ROD in our plug switch, a cigarette in the freezer, wires sticking out, horrible smell, horrible stains on floors and mattress, holes in covers, stains up wall, mouse hole on cabinet, and so much more. We was so scared to leave the room at 1am so we had to stay that night but left without a second thought even though we paid for 2 more nights, and was forced to pay for elsewhere! We will be asking for a full refund as this was the scariest and worst place we have stayed, and
