avid hotel Coralville - Iowa City by IHG

I am a traveling medical worker and choose to stay at Candlewood suites because of the consistent quality of the rooms and staff. My most recent stay has been in Coralville, Iowa. The experience that I have had here has been beyond my expectations in a large part due to the front desk clerk by the name of Abdel. He is such a joy to see after a long day of work. Thank you, Abdel, for helping me understand that my stay in Coralville has been appreciated!

This is a brand new hotel. The room was standard for Avid hotels with the compact set up. The shower looked nice but the door leaked water all over the bathroom floor. The check in desk person was visibly ill and wearing a poorly fitted mask which made me uneasy accepting my keys. The road noise was extreme from the highway and it didn’t seem like the windows were actually the type that blocks noise well. Additionally it is next door to a motorcycle dealership with constant revving noises going on. Breakfast was pretty good and parking was ample. The weight/exercise room was nice. ||It wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Let's call this place what it is. It's an above average budget hotel. It has all the things you need without any of the frills. While I'm the building is located close to the interstate we didn't really hear any road noise. The room was nice and clean other than hair still in the shower. The breakfast was a typical free breakfast. My biggest complaint was that the front counter guy was used the lobby bathroom before me. I'll spare the details but will say an employee should not have left it in the condition that they did. Total lack of respect for his employer and the guests staying here.

Beware. The Avid side was fine but Candlewood side presented problems. The GM, Jennifer, put multiple unauthorized charges on my room and I have only been in my room since the 12th of Dec. Not just silly charges, hundreds of dollars in charges. She is so cowardly she will not even speak with me on the phone about the fraud this hotel is committing. Beware bc they will take liberties with your credit cards! Do not stay here. There are too many reputable hotels that will not rob you. This woman is stealing from customers!!

The staff was very friendly and attentive. Clinton was there when I checked in and he explained everything in detail which was very helpful to understand the hotel itself. I could tell he’s very passionate. The room was a bit on the dirty side especially the floors and surfaces such as the desk. My room didn’t have a tv remote but I went to the front desk and they fixed it right away. Beds were comfy, room was spacious, perfect for a 1 or 2 night stay! I will say the highway noise is pretty loud and the breakfast left a lot to be desired but still enjoyed my visit!
