ANZ Hotel Scranton

My partner and I wanted a romantic getaway for Valentine’s Day and we loved this place. I booked a room for the Radisson nearby but stupidly booked it for 1/14 rather than 2/14. In a panic I started looking all around the area trying to find somewhere to stay since we were already in the area. We found this hotel and were delightfully surprised. Honestly, we didn’t expect much. Everywhere around them was booked so I guess we just assumed there was something wrong with this place. But again, we were so happy with our stay. Anne at the front desk was a highlight for us! All the staff we met were great. We met a maintenance guy and I think his name was like Bryan or something who was very friendly. Disappointed in this property. The bottom of the pool was dirty. And there was garbage around the pool. It looked like someone had a party and no one cleaned up after that. It took a long time for the water to get hot for my shower.

I was with a convention and I spent 4 nights at the hotel. It was the absolute worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. We utilized the Banquet Hall which had no air conditioning during a very hot heat wave. Restaurant was closed. The breakfast which was promised consisted of a “Little Debbie” if you could find one, warm orange juice and coffee. No air conditioning there either. The hotel had no housekeeping. Put used towels outside the door. They were not replaced. I had to go to the front desk for fresh ones. The bath tub had a very slow drain leaving behind a soap film which I did not notice or expect. The next morning I was slipping and sliding in the shower to the extent of coming very, very close to falling. I knocked the dispensers off the wall in the shower. No big deal.

I came to ANZ early in the morning, after being up all night, the lady” Deb” at the front desk, couldn’t have been any kinder or more helpful! She kindly upgraded our room, due to a situation that had nothing to do with her, no questions asked! I thought “wow, there are kind people in the world!” The next day, to our surprise the front desk lady “Friday” also, couldn’t have been more helpful and very sweet and personable! I work in hospitality, and these ladies are top notch! They have no idea that I am here because I am sick and need to be close to the hospital, they just wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Stayed here overnight due to its close proximity to the hospital. The parking is very close to the front of the building, and the lady at the front desk was extremely nice! The lobby is very nice and they offer a grab and go breakfast which was surprisingly good. The overall room quality was meh. The shower took around 5 minutes for the water to get warm and the room phone didn’t work, so calls to the front desk are done via cell phone. The tv didn’t have any streaming services, or local television, luckily I brought my fire stick to stream TV. The bedding was very nice and the AC/heat worked great. I think overall this hotel is decent for a quick overnight stay, and the room is relatively cheap for what you get. I think if they renovate some of the older degrading components of the rooms
