Americas Best Value Inn St. Ignace

If you are staying in the area with working dogs (upland, waterfowl, search/rescue, etc), look somewhere else. Drove 4 hours and the attendant cancelled my reservation while I was checking in at the lobby. I informed him upfront that I have a working dog. He thought I might take the dog into a room, even after explaining that working dogs stay in a crate in the vehicle. I assured him my dog will not go in the room and he continued to refuse to honor my reservation.

They have a pool and hot tub. The rooms are fine, but dated. Breakfast offering was nice when traveling -options were pretty standard. The WiFi is spotty at best and the coffeemaker in the room was missing a part. All and all, for the price point during peak travel season it was an acceptable place to stop over. If you have children who rely on internet, this may not be ideal for you. There was a problem with the air conditioner in one of the rooms we rented and the owner took care of that very quickly.

Positive: We had a ground room was clean and well kept Negative: Breakfast is still a issue at all the Best American Value we stayed at this trip. Old or hardly anything worth eating.

If you want a no frills low cost hotel, that provides the basics, this is it! While it’s not the worst place I’ve stayed in, I would say it’s just ok. WiFi is poor. The staff are pleasant, the rooms have refrigerators, and working AC. The rooms are not super clean and show their age. The bed was comfortable but had to ask for an extra pillow; the towels were old, but the shower pressure was good. If you only need a place to lay your head, it’s a good option provided you Dont mind outdated furniture and just ok amenities. If you have kids, there are better options with pools etc. in the area.

Ignore the photos you see online, the carpet/beds/TVs are not the same old stuff you see in the photos. They have not been updated. My honest review is the motel was very clean for the price. This is a very affordable motel compared to the others. The main problem with that is that it will attract a lot of people, especially some that don’t have decency. My only issue was that there were way too many smokers in the parking lot. I know that it’s hard to control which is why I’m rating this while ignoring the smokers. Other than that breakfast was decent.
