My wife wants to rate this 2 stars since the bed was comfortable and the hotel was fairly quiet. I am thinking one star because...Never had an experience like this. Booked 13 days and was asked how I wanted to pay--a day at a time? Weird. Often had a strong marijuana smell in halls and elevator. Two false fire alarms in 4 days. Twice had no working elevators. Guest rules started with avoiding being involved with the police! Huh? Last day found cockroaches in our room. Was told that the front desk was staffed 24/7. Yet when I tried to check out and rang the bell repeatedly no one came. I tracked down a cleaning person who told a maintenance man who told me to just put the key on the counter and it would be taken care of. Checked out one day early because of airline issue and was

The shortage of cleaning staff remains and issue. My room was cleaned 2 days late but I will say that the person who cleaned my room did an excellent job. I travel about 100 nights a year and have never stayed in a worse hotel. I reserved a no-smoking room, but was given a smoking room. The door handle to the bathroom came off in my hands. The room was full of roaches. I personally killed 5 of them (photos included as evidence). The sink was stained with cigarette burns. When I asked for another towel, I was told that I would need to bring my used towel down before I would be given another, and perhaps most shockingly, a fellow patron dropped his 9mm handgun on the elevator floor while i was trying to get out of the hotel. I reached out to Choice Hotels and their response was to say i should have received a non-smoking room and as a courtesy they would not charge me a no-show fee for failing to secure my reservation. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I would give 0 stars if i could.The conditions are absolutely unacceptable. The rooms reek of mold, and it’s not just an occasional issue—it’s everywhere. I’ve seen roaches crawling around, which makes it feel unsanitary and unsafe to even set food down. On top of that, there’s frequent police activity at the property, which makes it very unsettling to stay here. This is not the kind of environment anyone would feel comfortable or secure in. To make matters worse, management forces guests to move rooms every 28 days. This is not for the convenience of guests, but clearly a tactic to avoid lowering rates or reporting stays properly for tax purposes. While the gentleman checking us in was kind and professional, the rooms were terrible. When we rejected our first room assignment because it had an overpowering smell of urine in it, he was kind enough to give us the chance to look into two different rooms to see if we'd be satisfied with either one of them. The second room we looked at smelled strongly of BO. The third did not have a smell, and so we temporarily opted to stay there. He even offered to bring us a can of deodorant spray. | We smelled pot in the hallways and elevators, and found that both our room and the room we checked our elderly parents into were in disrepair. Rust on the refrigerator, cigarette burns on the tub in the bathroom, warped and chipped flooring, and hairs on the bedding and floor. We were charged $114 api
