Wingate By Wyndham Charlotte Airport I-85/I-485

This hotel is close to the airport, so if plane noise bothers you, that might be a consideration. The parking lot is relatively small, where I had to park was pretty muddy. Latisha at the front desk is absolutely wonderful; very welcoming, explained everything very clearly. My room was fine, bed was comfortable, plenty of pillows. Ice machine is next to the elevator and it worked. Wireless internet was VERY slow, but they had a cat5 wire at the desk in the room, and I happened to have a USB network adapter, so I used that instead of wireless, it was a lot faster. Domino's pizza delivers. Breakfast wasn't the best, wasn't the worst. Egg discs, sausage, bagels, a waffle maker. Some cereals and instant oatmeal, bananas and oranges. Some minor complaints: 1. Hotel is close to the airport, convenient. Traveling on a pleasure/ business trip with 8 people and reserved 5 rooms. The hotel messages you welcoming you to the property and asks you to reply back with any needs. Replied back asking about the shuttle service from the airport, an hour went by with no answer, so had to call as we were waiting for a shuttle that whole time. We saw multiple shuttles for Hilton Garden Inn, Sheraton, Hampton etc, but not one for this hotel. Had to call the hotel. The front desk person answered the phone, didn’t say anything, could hear another line ringing in the background then disconnected. They hung up without saying anything. Called back and the gal answered. She said Luis would have to come back and get the bigger van to accommodate our group of 8. About 4

Incredible customer service. During a severe storm in Charlotte, my father was stranded at the airport after his flight was postponed until the next day. I was hundreds of miles away and feeling extremely anxious trying to help him find a place to stay with availability and a reliable shuttle in the storm. I called multiple other hotels near the airport and had very mixed experiences—long hold times, call centers instead of on-site staff, pressure to book, and very little reassurance that the shuttle would continue to run in the snow. When I called the Wingate by Wyndham, Latisha answered the phone, and the experience was immediately different. From the very first moment she was warm, kind, calm, and genuinely helpful. She took her time with me, clearly explained availability and shuttle

All staff very friendly especially Latecha. However, the breakfast left a lot to be desired. I spent 23 years in the army and have experienced fake eggs and food kept warm in containers and that is what it tastes like. Bread for toast did not look fresh. The badge could not be cut by the plastic knife. Room very comfortable and clean.

Positive: front desk very helpful and relational/engaging; also, having an airport shuttle was great and nice to have, extremely close to airport (too close actually, see below) Negative: If you don't mind massive amounts of noise coming in from outside the hotel, this is your place. Got zero sleep the night we were there. Non-stop jet engine noise from arriving jets, constant car and truck noise, emergency vehicles, etc.
