Wild Wild West Backpackers Hostel

More of a shelter for local well-behaved, albeit quirky, homeless people rather than an actual backpacker hostel for international travellers. However, with the resident manager being on-site most of the time, making sure no one breaks the house rules, this place is a good compromise for a few nights. Within walking distance, there is a train and bus station for quick rides into downtown Dallas. And, almost best of all, in another direction and also within walking distance, there is an Aldi supermarket, along with other local shopping amenities - really good for inexpensive food (and drink), which you can then prepare in the hostel.

My friend and I booked into the ladies dorm where we met our Aussie mate. It was clean. Could of done with a wardrobe or drawers though.|We had no issues with Josh. We rang to let him know we were running late and he stayed up to meet us and show us to our room. He was a great chef too. We had hired a car at the airport as we had so many places to visit. Plenty of room to park on the driveway. The dog was a pest but he just wanted attention. It was awesome having the store over the road too.|I felt safe at this hostel. Always plenty of people round to chat to and share stories with. I definately recomend this hostel 😁

I don’t think anybody who’s leaving reviews here has actually been to a hostel. This place is a 10/10 for what you’re paying for and that’s absolutely all that matters. I arrived at 11pm on a Saturday because my sleeping plans went bad due to a friend blacking out and being poured into an uber then not being able to let me into his apartment so I was forced to find a bed elsewhere, not sleeping in my truck in 18 F weather. Place was open, paid upfront, all the amenities you need for a one night stay. If you want everything that comes with a hotel or AirBnB, newsflash, get one of those. Bing bang boom done 10/10

Probably the worst experience of my life, and I went to a lot of hostels ! I cannot describe what I lived : the place is nasty and horrible ; the guests are unwelcoming -to say the least- , scary and disrespectful (the we’re entering in the bedroom at 2am without reason and without closing the door). I never felt so unsafe in my life. I would have slept outside if it wasn’t that cold - and I mean it !! Don’t go there please.

The manager was great. The owner advertises it as a backpackers for tourists, however it is more of a homeless shelter. The owner would not refund me after spending 1 hour there and i communicated fairly and nicely. I would not go there if I was female or not street smart in Dallas, as it potentially dangerous with obvious drug usage. I will say again, that the manager was very friendly and helpful. Obviously the owner doesn't have morals and is all about they money from anyone though. Thankyou.
