I was exhausted after last Ng ride and hospital visit. After the hospital and early in the morning found out they had this place for the price paid. Great to have the funds for a nice shower, bit of TV watching and few hours sleep rest. Appreciated.
Honestly. This is NOT for you if you have options and money. This is only if you are have NO OTHER options and NO/NOT MUCH MONEY. I got the place for a woman sleeping on the street so I know... They allowed me to see the room before renting and it was fine because it was an upgrade for a homeless woman sleeping on the street. (I paid the cleaning lady Lydia to clean it more). It does smell of cigarette smoke. The air conditioning worked well. The only take cash. Yes they do short stay and day rates... The person at the check -in window (Joseph) was nice to be because I was nice to him. The security is good because you have to be buzzed in via doorbell. The neighbor is beautiful because it's across from Prudential and Whole Foods and Marcus B&P. ||||BUT I WROTE THIS REVIEW TO HEL
The room was clean but very basic and sparse. It had a television and a bathroom with a shower. I like that the hotel is conveniently right near downtown Newark, and I especially like that for just $50 I'm able to share a room with my friend for 4 hours in the afternoon.
I'm sorry that in a previous review I said it was perhaps shabby on the ground floor because I saw when I looked in this year on a visit that they had changed the carpet, which I had thought interesting. I didn't stay in 2018-19 because I stayed mostly in New York and then went to the Riviera on Clinton Avenue, since I hadn't stayed there on a previous visit but had in previous years. Also, you don't have an email and I don't tend to have a working phone abroad. I liked the hotel very much because it has an old fashioned feel and you worry that such places won't always be around. I also liked the modern bathrooms, even though now I think of it the lighting was not excessively flattering.
The village hotel is a solid place to bring your family to vacation and explore surrounding areas. it's a historic place in itself and quite interesting to look at. it's also a good place to rest your head if you find yourself in a situation such as if your car broke down up the street or a similar emergency requires it. Their staff is very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are clean and again all staff will accommodate you the best they can.
