TRYP by Wyndham Newark Downtown

I stayed at TRYP by Wyndham Newark Downtown on a Tuesday night and overall had a good experience. The hotel is in a very convenient location, an easy walking distance to Newark Penn Station, which makes getting around extremely convenient.The room was clean and comfortable, and the property feels well-maintained. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower, which was noticeably weak. Everything else worked well, but stronger water pressure would make the stay much better.Overall, a solid choice for a short stay in Newark, especially if you need quick access to Penn Station.

Went to see Matt Rife on Saturday night - so we came into town on Friday. This was the perfect spot to stay! While the rooms are on the smaller size, we only used them to sleep, so it worked for what we needed it for. If you are planning to spend extended time in your room, unless they have other room options, this is not the right place for that. Small gym in the basement, but has all the basics for a decent workout.

This was a fun find. Huge room but weirdly empty. Close to a Whole Food, Starbucks and a walk to Penn Station. If you need to fly out in the morning, this one is probably a bit inconvenient, but if you're heading to NYC it's perfect. As per the complaints in the reviews, the shuttle took forever and was about 20 min later than the hotel said it would be. I'm guessing it's because of all the road work going on. The driver was a gem and he was fun to drive around with. I got a huge portion of warm yummy food at Whole Foods for a fraction of what a restaurant meal costs nearby. Location to Penn Station Newark I would not stay here again – disappointing experience This was my third (and final) stay at this hotel over the past year, and it’s gone noticeably downhill each time. The condition of the rooms has significantly deteriorated: loose floor tiles in the bathroom, chipped walls, and broken countertops all point to very cheap, careless renovations. Service has been consistently poor, but this last visit was the worst. The shuttle bus — which is advertised at the front desk as running every 30 minutes or hourly — was unreliable. When I called after midnight to request a pick-up from Penn Station (as instructed), no one answered, despite repeated attempts. My family, including children, was forced to walk back to the hotel. Let me begin by saying this is one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have ever experienced. No frills just the basics. There was no chairs in the room only an ottoman under a contemporary style desk. The bed had a frame that protruded a couple inches beyond the mattress which made it easy to bump your shins. The windows have deep recesses that can be used for sitting if necessary. The staff was professional and the check in process easy. The room key seemed to be floor specific, you needed it to use the elevator. The ice machine on my floor was turned off and when I attempted to go to another floor it took me to the main floor. Great security feature.
