Stayed for a silent retreat and it couldn't have been better. The accommodations allowed for the contemplation of God's gifts, while offering the comforts that allows one to gaze onward. Our group utilized the conference room for group yoga, and talk about a heavenly experience. Imagine the big picture windows with a spacious view of the ocean mixed with the sound of crashing waves, now that is just the setting to ease your heart and mind. Now a few words about the staff,. You couldn't have better companions on your spiritual journey; the Sisters of Holy Names are just what you would expect and more. I can't complement them more. Finally, the food was not only tasty, plentiful, but presented by a careful touch, by such wonderful chef's. Highly recommended; I will be back!!

I just returned home from another wonderful weekend spent at this scenic retreat center. The location, which overlooks Monterey Bay, is an excellent place to refresh one’s soul. Villa Maria Del Mar is owned and operated by the Sisters of the Holy Names, a congregation of Catholic women religious. According to center’s website the property includes a chapel and three buildings that are used for bedrooms, meeting rooms and dining rooms. A major asset is its proximity to the beach, which enhances one’s spiritual journey with dazzling sunrises and sunsets and the gentle songs from waves meeting the nearby shore.
