Hampton Inn Santa Cruz West

Trouble free stay, dog friendly, family friendly and includes an excellent breakfast layout each day. Rooms were clean and everything well kept. Pleasantly surprised with the hotel, also has a very nice gym and is close to restaurants, brewery and other things to do.

The staff were incredibly helpful and kind! I arrived early, and they were very accommodating—offering a place to leave my bags, hot coffee, and even a spot to get some work done before check-in. Everyone was friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. My room was great, the hotel is dog-friendly (which I loved), and they have a gym for workouts. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would definitely recommend this hotel. They truly went above and beyond my expectations!

Positive: This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. The staff lied about not finding my engagement ring in my room after checkout (I've checked my belongings countless times without finding it); the manager lied that they didn't find it after checkout. Negative: The manager was defensive, rude, and dishonest when I called about my diamond engagement ring I left in the room after checkout. They claimed it wasn't in the room. I've searched my belongings without success, and clearly one of the employees stole it.

Great location in walking distance to wine tasting and breweries. Overall nice area, feels safe. Breakfast was decent with eggs and potatoes and all the cold options as well. Room could have been a little cleaner in the bathroom were pubic hairs and a lot of dark hairs around the base of the shower on the floor. The app said I could have contactless check-in, but they would not get me a digital room key until physically checking in like normal. I have used the contactless check in at other Hilton properties with no issue.

Rooms are kind of small. Front desk agent was nice, but hard to understand. Did not have a deck of cards to borrow (5 other hotels on the same trip had playing cards). No bathtub in our room, and apparently it wasn't possible to switch to a room with a tub. Parking situation is weird - two underground parking garages, and an outside lot. Area seems decent, as far as I could tell. Breakfast was pretty good - lots of options. Room was not bad - but bathroom sink did not drain. I would stay here again - it was not bad overall.
