Customer Reviews
This campground has huge potential but lacks in its layout for sites and utilities. With this being a huge state park, there is lots of room for a nice campground. Someone dropped the ball on this place. The sites are packed together like sardines with NO privacy. We couldn't open the windows on one side because our neighbors were smoking cigarettes a few feet away from us. As commented on before, the electric setups are not convenient and/or practical. With our site, if we didn't have an extension cord, we wouldn't have electricity. The sites have no designated spot to park, so campers just park anywhere. The State Park list these as grass sites, but they are being torn up with ruts and mud holes from rain. The State Park needs to designate a parking spot and level it with a gravel pad. I
Campsites not as big as at other Michigan State parks… could barely fit a 20’ camper and tent with two cars on one site and too up close & personal to the campers on all three sides. Staff friendly, shower/washrooms clean. Lake access paths if you weren’t lucky to snag a lake site. Very close to trails and scenic sites.
The park itself is nice..good location, well maintained facilities, friendly staff. Nice and quiet and beautiful views of the lake. The campground hosts were nice and we loved the board games they had available to borrow! The layout of the actual campsites was bad. The power boxes and fire pits were poorly placed in many of the sites. Also, deceptively uneven sites compared to pictures online. The site we originally booked (#72) was fairly small, which was fine, with only one real way to park our 30’ 5th wheel. However, the power box was in the opposite corner and our 50+’ extension cord was short by 10’. We went back to the registration station and the staff member said they had extra extension cords — I’m guessing because other people had the same problem we did. We ended up switching
This is a State Park campground in the middle of nature. Large sites with electric and a dump station. Potable water was available. The Host had a shed with information and games and puzzles. The restrooms were clean with easy access for all the sites. A boat launch to Lake Superior and picnic tables to take in natures lake beauty. Very resonably priced, but you need to purchase Michigan State Park pass and a car pass. With luck you can see the Northern Lights . Oh, miles of trails and pet friendly. @bigdogsrvadventure
The sites were small as the campers were stacked in with not a lot of space. Plus we arrived in the rain and it rained off and on during our 3 day stay. Our tiny space turned into mud in no time. If this campground had camp hosts, we never saw them nor did they stop by to visit unlike McLain State Park. That's the campground to stay at!
