Lake of the Clouds Cabin

It’s just a large open room and a place to sleep uncomfortably. Bring fire starter’s, consider packing a tent. If you aren’t comfortable sleeping on the ground, this place isn’t for you, because the mattresses on the bunks are like rocks. Be forewarned, if you travel to this place in late May through June, you may be eaten alive by black flies. They are vicious, they come in swarms, and they will make your life a living hell. Also, this is not the quiet place you may think you’re getting. People come down the trail to the cabin even though they aren’t renting and make lots of noise. This isn’t a VRBO rental, this is a box by a lake. The surrounding area and trails are beautiful, but if it rains be prepared for lots of terrible sinking mud.

Not bad it's old cabin but don't book if it's going to be in 80s . We open windows at night closed in morning by third day heat was unbearable women were not happy & black flys on full strength . Be nice spring or fall. Oh the water was super sulphur smell.

Simply amazing. It’s a .75mi hike from the parking lot…seems easy, but it’s also a 300 ft difference in elevation. Be prepared! Once you are there and settled in, the experience can’t be beat. You have a row boat and canoe that allows you to be the ONLY people with access to the lake. An unreal experience!

We specifically rented this the very last days we could before it was closed for the winter, because we think the winter is the most beautiful time in the Porkies. AND no people! Felt like we had the park to ourselves! Wonderful! ☺ I swear I could hear the Home Alone theme song playing watching snow fall on the lake through those great big picture windows. 💙 ❄️ Magical winter wonderland. Hard work, cold, not always confortable, but for us - totally worth it!

Fond memories of this place, would love to return. May get sucked dry by mosquitos though, and don't think you're going to get to it with a cooler full of booze.
