TownePlace Suites by Marriott Huntsville

My stay at the TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Huntsville was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked through the doors, the staff made me feel less like a guest and more like family. Every interaction carried genuine warmth — smiles at the front desk, thoughtful check-ins, and a level of hospitality that felt personal, not transactional. It’s rare to experience service that sincere. The accommodations were equally impressive. My room was spotless, spacious, and incredibly comfortable — truly designed for both relaxation and productivity. The full kitchen setup, cozy living space, and well-appointed bedroom made it feel like a home away from home. Everything was modern, well maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. Travel can be exhausting, but this stay felt restorative. W

Positive: The location was good. Lots of places to eat and shop nearby. The staff was nice and friendly - especially the breakfast chefs and servers. Negative: The hotel is very old and outdated. The rooms were moldy and smelly. The TV was not working, couches were dirty. It did not look like a Marriot property. The food was very bad tasting and very little options available. No GF or DF food available.

I stayed here for four nights with two family members. Our room was a two bedroom suite. The desk staff at check-in and throughout our stay was cordial and helpful. We found our ground floor room to be badly in need of some TLC. The drapes in both bedrooms were tattered and dry rotted. The inner drape in the sitting area had been completely removed and only the night curtain remained in place. One of the windows in the sitting area was shattered and held in place by tape. The carpet was badly worn in many places, The wall mounted lamps in both bedrooms were loosely attached to the wall and drooped 30 degrees from perpendicular. One light fixture was completely missing. My rating of 3 is composite of a 4 for the friendly staff and a 1 for the actual physical accommodations.

Never again will I book a Marriott property relying on the brand to maintain acceptable standards. In a rush to get to Huntsville to care for my 91 year old mother in law, I booked the TownePlaza suites based on location without checking reviews. We are Gold Elite Bonvoy members so I used the app quickly to book my stay. When I arrived to the hotel and my room, I found duct tape holding the carpet in place, a closet door that will not stay closed so I use my suitcase to prop it in place, cabinets that are chipped and broken and such a general run down state it was hard to imagine. Traveling alone and needing to get to the hospital, I did not have the time to move hotels. I did however reach out through the app to express my concern with no response to date. Had to clean out my own room from the previous guest. I showed the front desk everything that was left (see picture) and I asked to be moved because honestly I thought someone was currently occupying the room. The next room the tv was blaring and I was worried someone was in that room too, I knocked and then opened the door and it smelled so heavily of weed I couldn’t fully enter . At this point it was 8pm and I just wanted to eat and go to bed. I went back to my original room and cleaned it out. This property should be embarrassed to be associated with the Marriott brand. I am a travel agent and I wanted to see if I could send business guest to this property when the came for work, but I will absolutely not use this property. The only pro was the ladies at the front desk were very nice. I
