Holiday Inn Express & Suites Huntsville - Space Center, an IHG Hotel

Filthy rooms and outrageous, unresolved billing nightmare I don’t write reviews like this, but this experience was beyond unacceptable. While the front desk staff were polite, that is the only positive thing I can say. The rooms themselves were disgusting. I was checked into a room with dirty, clearly unwashed sheets. This is not subjective. It was obvious. Because of this, I was forced to move rooms, which is not something a guest should ever have to deal with at any hotel, let alone a Holiday Inn Express. The real and unforgivable issue is billing. I was charged twice for over $15,000 each for what was supposed to be a short 3 night stay. These are not pending authorizations. They are real charges. We stayed here a few nights in order to pick my daughter up from Space Camp. When we arrived, the lady working the night desk (I don't think I ever got her name) was very friendly and got us checked in quickly. Our room was nice- it looked modern and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and I liked the selection of soft and firm pillows. They have Dove toiletries which was nice. They are large bottles instead of the travel bottles all hotels used to use. It was fine except the conditioner bottle was apparently clogged and it shot conditioner all over the shower instead of into your hand.||The breakfast offered each morning was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've had. I went to this hotel around 8 PM to rent a room, and the receptionist named Toi refused to rent me one just because I’m a foreigner and my ID doesn’t have an address. When I asked how they deal with tourists, she flat out said they don’t serve them. That’s unbelievable for a hotel! This kind of attitude pushes customers away and hurts the business. I went next door, and they welcomed me with no problem. Terrible experience — I will never come back.

First the bad experience. We had two rooms. One room 123 had a smoke detector with a light that blinked continuously all night for the two nights we stayed. This was not an issue in our second room 125. The front desk person was apologetic and reported the issue to the maintenance man who did not resolve the issue And just started it was the smoke detector. That we knew. Because of this continuous blinking light we couldn’t relax or get sleep. We knew this shouldn’t be an issue since our other room had a smoke detector that was not continuously blinking. The maintenance response made us feel ignored in addition to not fixing the issue. Everyone else at the property are extremely nice and helpful. We had a wonderful stay! Every employee we encountered was very friendly and helpful, even got an early check in. Only complaint is there is only breakfast no other food and no restaurants in walking distance so we had to DoorDash a couple times since we didn’t have a car. Would stay here again.
