TownePlace Suites by Marriott Gallup

The room was fine, and free breakfast was fair. Poor rating is because| - there is a lot of noise from the nearby railway (especially in the room we were in, 402)|- the elevator/lift is out of order and expected to remain so for weeks|- the WiFi coverage was poor (kept dropping out and then reconnecting)|- maintenance is not being kept up (eg elevator broken, breakfast juice dispenser not working, shower/bath water diverter not fully switching all water, water-damaged door etc)

Room is a little dingy for a Marriott hotel. Furniture & walls/doors are cracked/chipped. Weird perfume smell to room. Bathroom is super small & cramped. Not sure why I had to swipe my card 3x, for 3 separate charges - when I already paid for my room through the Marriott app? Was tired & just wanted to get to my room. Long time IHG member, but figured I would try Townplace. In the future, i'll opt to stay at the Holiday Inn Express next door.

The night that we stayed was very unpleasant. The elevator's were shut down, and they placed us right next to a stairwell where people were stomping and carrying coolers down! The room was dirty when we first entered, people were blasting music and everything! They called and said the can only give us a few points… my dad who is a retired veteran did not appreciate this because he only got a few hours of sleep! The inconvenience was so bad! Breakfast was also not very good either!! Overall this was just an uncomfortable experience.

Our 1 night stay at the TownePlace Suites Gallup was very pleasant. The staff was courteous and more than willing to help. The hotel was fresh, new and modern. Our 2-bed suite was adequately large with a full kitchen including glass dishes. I liked the firm new mattress, but I brought my own flat pillow from home as I don't care for gigantic, fluffy hotel pillows. The room was immaculately clean when we arrived. Although the hotel was fully booked, we heard no noise from other guests, so I assume it is very well constructed and insulated. It is also located far enough away from the notorious train tracks in Gallup that train noise is also not an issue, hurray! I would definitely recommend this hotel for one or many nights in Gallup.

I hate door dashing to this dump. For the prices they charge, one would think they would have fixed the elevators. But no. Still a year has gone by and no working elevators. If you stay here don't order from delivery services if you ain't going to meet your driver at the front desk. Last delivery I dropped off here was on the 4th floor. Room at the other end of the hall from thr starewell. After all that climbing and walking. The cheap skate only tips me $0.50. Like that old man did in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds.
